I just received a letter from them saying they are out of assasin's creed and giving me a pair of useless "free flight" tickets (apply 30 days in advance, give at least 3 dates you can use etc).

I'm mildly annoyed with the company, but can't cancel the subscription as it's a present for someone.

    same thing here !
  • I have just got off the phone to them. I, like many of you, received the useless "Free flights" letter.

They have said they are not prepared to do anything but extend the subscription by two months. I asked if they had any alternative gifts and they said no.

They said I can write in to the company complaining, not sure what that will achieve though.

The thing that has really p1ssed me off is they say they can not give me a refund. I paid £38 up front and only bought the subscription for the game, the magazine was a bonus. Not something I would buy really.

Any ideas what can be done about this apart form writing a nasty letter? Has everybody else had the same response?
  • Yep same thing happened to me although I have been offered a refund - Are the free flights that useless tho?

Try again but be really firm with them. I paid £38 for my subscription and when I rang earlier today the lady asked me if I was cancelling because of the game not being sent out, I told her it was and she arranged a refund cheque to be sent out. Try again, I think I am right that you have rang FHM.

i sent a mail to them on the 30th november to be told i needed to wait 28th, hadnt seen this thread but havent recvd the game either so must be the same problem as everyone else, i wanted the game more than anything, the subscription i wasn't bothered about.
Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!
  • I too have been offeerd the flights and yes in my opnion they are totally useless, Had the deal been take the subscription for two flights almost nobody would have done it,

I would love to know the true figures for this deal , how many new subscriptions as a result of it and how many actually got the game, what is it 1 in 10, 1 in 50 ?

I fully feel like I have been ripped off, I have rang and been told somebody would call back, that was 3 days ago !

They should not be allowed to get away with this without giving the true figures somebody should be accountable.
  • Having checked my bank account online, I was surprised to see that my subscription has not been refunded yet.

I contacted the subscription company who told me that it was being sent out in the form of a cheque. When I asked if there was a quicker way, they explained that actually they'd made a mistake - it was not being sent as a cheque, but was being refunded to my bank account.

I asked why it hadn't gone through yet and they then confirmed my details - which were wrong (I've recently received a new debit card with a different number on it, and they had refunded it to the old one). They advised me to contact my bank to check with them.

After speaking to my bank (and being cut off once) I discovered that the payment would have gone through regardless. Clearly, they said, the payment hasn't been made yet.

I spoke, rather wearily, to the company again and they informed me that the refund would take up to 28 working days, confirming that it could be the first week of February before I get my money back.

Out of curiosity, I also asked how much they would be refunding me, and it was almost £4 less than the amount I'd previously agreed with them on the telephone!

What the hell has happened to customer service in this country?

Well as i live in north east and wont be using a london airport i would have to pay the flight charges/taxes etc, plus the condition on the tickets is that you use their sponsors hotel and have to book for 3 nights. therefore the cost of all that does make the 'free' flight tickets useless as i could book with easyjet and use my own choice of accommodation and it would be cheaper.

I rang demanding a refund as only wanted the mag subscription for the game and was told to put it in writing so sent email but no response as yet.

its more annoying as ordered same thing for a friend for xmas as well and he also received flight tickets which neither of us want, so trying to get refund for his as well so i can buy him something decent now.
