Yeah that's why I'm posting, they seem cheap to me too!

To be fair - I live miles away on the south coast. I'm looking at 2/3 bed terraces at the moment, and the areas I want to live in average £500k!
' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

Ah. (And this to make it long enough to post.)
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.
  • Mansfield has always been cheap. It's an ex mining area.thats nearly always the case. If you look say within a 10 mile radius north and west and north east you will find similar prices.its the ex north Notts and north east Derbyshire coalfield

The drug problem in the town centre is no worse then any other place. The road I mentioned is the council estate I wouldn't live on.

Don't be put off Mansfield by the so call drug area. Mamba and spice is affecting a lot of areas so no where is immune and it is really only a few people in the town centre

You get a lot for your money in Mansfield and people could do a lot worse then there

But everywhere is crap, according to Crap Towns.

Crap Towns is an nihilistically amusing website, but it's not really useful as an actual guide to anywhere.
  • Thanks for all the links Cakeguts, the last one does look alright. I'm only looking for 2 bedrooms though - this one is the front runner so far -

Crime and flood stats look ok, and neighbours seem ok on streetview.

It seems a wee bit near Ravensdale road + avenue though, thanks realgonekid! The mamba situation - is it a spreading issue or a handful of scum in the town centre do you know?

That property isn't cheap for that area: it's just off Barringer Road!

If you are looking at Forest Town, then Big (and Little) Barn Lane, Lingforest or the estate off Dorothy Drive.
Places to avoid are deffo The Avenues, Ravensdale and Newlands/Garibaldi. Houses are good but the community can be a bit funny with newcomers, especially if they are 'bl**dy Southerners' (no offence but that's how it is).

Personally I wouldn't touch anything off Barringer Road with a barge pole. at the edge of Ravensdale and very close to a house where a woman murdered her parents and buried them in the garden.

Depending on where you need to travel to work Leeming Lane at Mansfield Woodhouse and Oak Tree Lane Mansfield are very busy in the rush hours, oh and Chesterfield Road as well.

Add The town centre of Mansfield is a complete waste of time for shopping, few shops that haven't closed down.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

There is something wrong with this house. You can tell because it has been on the market since May.

    It's the area that's wrong.

Houses are moving at the moment, 3 near me sold in the past few weeks.

  • OP what kind of area would you be working?
