Because they wedge the standard size springed flap open, and my letterbox is roughly shoulder height, fitted vertically

    Very annoying/akward to deliver to........

    How big is your letterbox?

You think that's bad, round here they have great big glass ones that you can see straight through!
  • An interesting discovery made today - man delivering leaflets told me that the company he works for tells him to leave leaflets sticking out. He said this is because company sends out someone on a motorbike to see that the leaflets have been delivered. It seemed genuine and very plausible. Now we know!

Don't dump the leaflets or the motorbike man will know!

When I was a yoof doing my paperround sometimes things were left sticking out if the letterbox was very stiff and likely to trap my fingers. I don't remember anyone peering through letterboxes into hallways being a particular issue.

Maybe he told you the truth, maybe not. What is truth is that people end up forced to deliver leaflets on £X per-thousand-delivered arrangements, ie, they are not getting anything close to minimum wage because they are contractors, not hourly employees. While some do it because they love the exercise, many do it out of desperation and needing the (abysmal) pay. So, slowly and carefully ensuring each leaflet goes in, without getting fingers trapped, is on nobody's list of priorities.

Is there anything I can do?

    Howsabout:
    • Hang an opaque curtain on the back of the door.
    • Box-in around the letterbox on the back of the door.
    • Move the letterbox to a low position.
    • Fit an external post box.

    And exactly what, proves what.
If the leaflets are randomly pulled through the doors by the occupants , what's the proof the leaflets weren't put through by the delivery person
