Am using NordVPN, cannot fault it. Download speeds not as fast as when not using it depending on location I choose (I have 72mbit FTTC) but certainly fast enough. Connecting to a UK point returns 40mbit, connecting to USA gives me 48mbit.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. a recent edition of 'WebUser' magazine did a comparison of about 10 VPN's with Nord Vpn coming out on top.0

It also depends on what type of VPN you want? ie router based, full install on pc/laptop or browser based only.
I recently researched all of this and as a first step decided to use a browser based VPN. So only the browser uses the VPN. This is installed by way of an add-on, just like any other browser based add-ons you may have.
I settled on Windscribe which I use with Firefox
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/windscribe/
I tried out free version, which has reduced bandwidth and less countries to use, but then upgraded to the unlimited one (about $40/year for what I understand are unlimited users).
It also has a rotating user agent to further secure privacy.
I personally got this as I was fed up with the huge amount of online tracking.
Speedtest show that there is a mild hit for this particular type of VPN but you can always try it for free beforehand and because it is an add-on, it can be removed easily.

Why do these threads always attract users with 1 or 2 posts under their belt writing suspicious recommendations of various VPN suppliers ..

These are pointless threads anyway. People will only recommend the one they have as they can't perceive that it may not be the very best.;)Drinking Rum before 10am makes you
