ahh that sounds great hosterlady!! i wish my mum was into something or liked something enough to do something like that. she just revolves around the family really. i wonder if i could incorporate that in some way into a present??? really lacking in thought
So, it should be something where the family revolves around her for a change, I'm thinking but shattered so I'll catch up with the thread tomorrow0 -
How about a digital radio, I've been hinting I want one of these.
I love the sixties looking ones (in case DD reads this :rotfl: )0 -
How about a beautiful card (hand made by you or garnd kids) promising a Day of Delight in spring/summer.When you and all the family can spend the day celibrating your mum.Take her out to a museum, coast, statly home have picnic of food she likes fly kites ect take lots of video and pictures.
Or have a day at home on a sunny summerday with ALL the family bringing photos of your mum to show, play family games serve all her fave food.Lots of pictures. Some of the best lessons we ever learn,we learn from our mistakes and failures.the error of the past is the success and wisdom of the future. :j0 -
JAmTart6 - why not make her a mummy hamper - im making a daddy one for my dad.
In it so far i have a 'make your own calender' - curtosy of poundland that you add your own pictures too (cost £1 obv), a book called 'chicken soup for the father daughter soul' from amazon, 2 double photo frames one of me and him (when little and us now) and the second is pictures of him and my sister and them both together now), a home decorated photoframe (done by my 3 year old) with a school picture of him in it, a bottle of red plonk (his fave) and an apron decorated by my 3 year old. Ive also included a bar of his fave choccie (bourneville) a best grandad mug and bookmark and a copy of my sons first year video. Also i have done some little vouchers for a)quality time with me, and b) quality time with his grandson and c) time wth both of us.
Hope that helped!Time to find me again0 -

How about a photo experience for her but with her and all the family in the picture, so she has a family photo not just ones of the kids.
Or...
I'm doing my dad (who has everything) a doting grandad hamper that I got the idea from off this link

you could expand on this also, put your own specifics into it.
Hope you think of somthing :idea:0 -
My mom is exactly like yours she goes mad if any money is spent on her and she just runs around all the time doing jobs. She never ever gets herself new clothes or anything and she thinks everything is a waste argh.
Earlier this year my mom said she saw a trailer for "music and lyrics" and she would love to see it which totally shocked me so i remembered it and bought it. My mom loves Baileys and only drinks at christmas so I bought her the Baileys chocolate fountain from boots. As soon as I had purchased it I shuddered thinking oh no she will go mad saying it is a faddy rubbish thing and unhygenic but then she actually hinted she would like one!! I got some really nice snuggly socks from the next clearance centre and a pair of pyjamas from primark all wrapped in ribbon for £4 because everyone needs new ones! popped it all into hamper and for the first time in ages I am excited and think she will love it.

My mum is usually a nightmare but this year has told me early that she would like a DVD of the original Platters. No idea what the original line up for The Platters was but at least I've got something to go at this year.0

The Platters as in the musical group The Platters? They changed their lineup a few times but the original was Cornell Gunter, Herb Reed, Alex Hodge, Joe Jefferson, and David Lynch. Though they had more success when they changed the lineup to be Tony Williams, David Lynch, Herb Reed, Paul Robi and Zola Taylor. That lineup lasted from 1955 to 1960 I think where the bulk of their hits were. HTH.0
