Calling all Mums! Inspiration required!

Right guys..My mum is the bestest person in the world, and I love her loads:iloveyou:.....

but year upon year have the age old problem of "what to buy for xmas" and birthday....

The things she is getting, she pretty much knows about or they are things she has chosen, things she wanted, or things she uses all the time which are quite honestly a bit boring as presents (but she does love them because she likes practical presents).

I had an idea to put it all together in an interesting way, the hampers out as a surprise cos she seen them all on here.

So as a mum can you come up with a fantastico present that you would love with the following options out:

*Sensitive skin so have to be careful about bubble baths and already bought a perfume

*Memory book out already done one

*photo frame with cute photo of us in out - we have hundreds

* Spa day out also out she would hate it

*clothes out

*no specific hobbies (part of a present is to get her into growing veg but only a small part)

I really want a bonza idea, like the memory book, or a great day out as a treat - but NO IDEA where to do or what to do, or what to buy.

She likes moneysaving type things, and doenst like presents that are a waste of money if you know what i mean...

I really am so stuck as I am every year, but she is always there for me and Ijust want to show her how special she is...and dont know how!

any advice GRATEFULLY received!

  • what about a book of vouchers which would include like "a boquet of flowers" "your meal cooked" "some gardening work" or to decorate a room in her house that needs sprucing up " do the shopping" "home made cake"

a hamper full of food that she likes?

a trip to the theatre or cinema with lunch or dinner? or to see a show, comedian, music, etc...

something for her to enjoy in the garden, a plum tree and a recipe on how to make plum jam?

a magazine subscription to house and home, or bbc good food?

  • Yes an experience is by far the better option - speaking as a mum I have cupboards full of 'stuff' I don't want, much rather have a food or evening out type gift, and speaking as a daughter my dad was thrilled with tickets to see Seth Lakeman!
  • What sort of music/artists does she like? Are there any pre-sales around for a concert she might like next year.
I got pre-sale for Elton John for my mum.

  • Hiya Jamtart *waving*,

Your mum seems to like/dislike simliar things to myself.. I'm going to list a few pressies that I would like. ;) lol

I'd love a memory book ..but you've already done that one :)

A night away in a hotel?..you could use tesco points to make it cheaper?

I think a voucher book would go down well (take note my kids ;) I'd love this!!) ....a sunday afternoon walk, pop in the local, afternoon tea, facial (done by you?), icecream in the park, cook a meal etc, dvd on a winters afternoon, gardening afternoon, help with the weekly shop, etc. You can make your own booklet or I'm sure I've seen a link on here somewhere for a website.

Theatre would be great too :) Billie Elliott is on the tesco deals starting today.(going to take my daughters after christmas as a late birth pressie)

    A meal out.

A special Cd of songs that she loves, that you can download?
  • my mum is very hard to but for so i usually get the same every year that i know that she likes so this year i have got us tickets for 'strictly dancing' when it takes to the road, i have decided to book a hotel and stay over as well,( xmas and birthday rolled into one.. )sorted :j
