    Aeromexico beg to differ lol.

I don't believe anything either company says. I think I'm just going to go to Heathrow and clarify with someone at aeromexico's desk this weekend.

    Up to you.

However, there is no guarantee that the same person will be on the checkout desk when you travel, so an 'OK' this weekend will not be a real guarantee that your journey will go smoothly. (Not to mention the comment on the 'phone that you might be accepted at Heathrow but not for the second leg of the journey -- something that I regard as absolute nonsense BTW.)

More seriously: as matters stand you have a right to travel. In legal terms you were "entitled to rely" on the information presented on the website, and if the airline denies you boarding they are in deep doo-doo. However, if you persist in checking with them and are given an authoritative statement that there is a problem, then that gives the airline a get-out.

I wonder if the OP will come back to update the thread following their visit to LHR two weeks ago.

Yes, I would take a print out of the bit on the site where it say 'middle name optional'
In future if there is a middle name on your passport always use it when booking any flights.

Obviously it's optional, not everyone has a middle name...

While the OP is worrying about nothing because they categorically will be allowed to fly, the site saying optional has nothing to do with it.

It's not required to submit the form is a very different thing to it not being required information.
