  • Good morning everyone!

Zazen, I’m a new returnee too and also making wine and have an allotment. Only ever made one batch before awhen I was a student donkeys years ago - this time I have high hopes for my blackberry deliciousness! :rotfl:

Two sales overnight so will pootle to the post office to get those off. Maybe I will actually get to do that baking later today. Definitely do a bit more listing in the online shop. (Not very old style I know!)

Hedgepuss is asleep on my lap, snoring and twitching his paws, he’s dreaming of something fun. I’ll sit and read for a bit before I get up and on.

    Morning all from misty Mehefinland

Hugs and spoons to those in need, and welcome to the fellow
    returnees.

Scoobymare had shoe put back on yesterday after having yet another abcess. Seems much happier now that's sorted so suppose i'll get dragged out for a pootle around the lanes later. If its as warm as yesterday that wont be particularly pleasant as the girls are growing their winter coats and sweat easily at the moment. Bruisemare then uses me as a rubbing post:D

Had to smile at the winemaking stories. Had disasters with elderflower ( cat pee) and Dandelion ( more like horse p) amonst others. My old Mum once made blackberry and left it to ferment in the upstairs airing cupboard. A funny stain appeared on the lounge ceiling below as it went into overdrive:eek: Think Dad used about a gallon of paint trying to eradicate the stain.

Not much else going on so I'll wish you all a good day

    Good morning everyone :hello:
I've just packed Lee and Phoebe off to the doctors as Lee has a blood test this morning. They are planning to go to a cafe afterwards as its a fasting test so poor Lee has missed out on his breakfast and cup of tea. He has to have regular tests because of the meds he is on but he has dreadful veins so it is always a bit of an ordeal for the poor thing.

I am up and dressed as I am hopeful that my best friend will be coming here for a cuppa and a catch up. She is very poorly though so if she doesn't make it there will be a good reason. I have only seen her once since the wedding but we talk on the phone through the week. Anyway, I will go and tidy the living room, not that she cares what state my house is in.

I am making a thai green curry and rice for dinner tonight so I will put the chicken in my instant pot in a minute and then will also make a chicken soup as the last one went down really well with my invalids. Speaking of which they are doing much better and so far everyone else has avoided their germs.

Nice to see so many returners to the thread, I love this community. Hugs to the poorly and worried especially Speky. Hope your Gran is ok to have her operation today and makes a full recovery xx Also thinking of Holly, hope she feels all the support from us across the ether. And as always, love and hugs to the TA's xx

Right, I am going to crack on so will love you all and leave you. Take care everyone xx

    Morning all,

We're back from our break in the Lake District which we all enjoyed.DS brought the children up Saturday lunchtime to stay over and it was a gorgeous afternoon. We went to Brockhole,DH had a walk round the grounds and watched DS & DGC on something called Tree top nets: a completely enclosed series of net slides, walkways, jumpy bits etc high up in the trees, which they absolutely loved.Followed that with ice creams sat outside the cafe. Then a walk to the lake followed by a meal out.The day after DS hired a small motor boat to go on Windermere, again very popular and the we took them to the toy shop in Bowness that I remember taking our boys to,prob nearly 30 years ago now
DGS was a bit put out that we were staying and they had to go home :)
Managed to persuade DH to call in the Lake land store for a few bits I wanted, especially some stuff for my hands I used to use at work as a barrier/moisturiser.They are a real mess at the moment with eczema, ashamed to have them on show!
On the way home we spent the afternoon with some old friends who live in Kirkby Lonsdale, after we'd had some lunch and a mooch and popped in the butchers for some tea. Arrived home to trip up over DS2s overnight bag he'd dumped in the kitchen, all the supplies gone I got in for DS1,pots in the sink....you get the picture :rotfl:Can't complain too much DS1 did stay at home to look after Ly1adog who doesn't seem to have missed us :D but we did get a lovely greeting off her ( had to shoo her outside quick as she started to piddle in excitement.
Back to work for DH,but we've said we should def go more often.

I.ve not caught up really with all your news so will hope you are all ok,welcome back Zazen & Treesparrow, thoughts are with the TA's and Holly ,Poppy & Taff, anyone else poorly or worried.Have the best day you can xx

  • Morning folks and thank you so much to my old buddies on here for the continued good wishes and, more importantly, not forgetting to keep us in your thoughts.

We are now at the start of week 4 at the hospice and Bob still battling on. Everything is more of a struggle. Still taking things day by day as it's all we can do. We can see a decline every day. The staff here continue to take good care of us all and I am still "living" here with him and sleeping next to him every night. I have forgotten what home looks like but DS and DD are still going in every night on their way home from here to pop a couple of lamps on and calling back in next morning on their way here to turn them off again. Makes it look a bit more lived in.

DD and the girls have signed up for the Halloween Monster Dash, the hospice's latest fundraiser. DD's Just Giving page on FB has already been pledged over £400 and eldest DGDs sponsor sheet stood at £109 after just one day. People are so generous as they know how important the hospice is for our area.

On a brighter note middle DGD (our "Margot"!) has once again auditioned successfully for the Panto at Bradford Alhambra. This will be her third appearance as a Sunbeam but sadly she will probably be too tall next year. They like them under 4 ft 7 in. If my height keeps on shrinking I may audition myself next year! This year it's Aladdin with Billy Pearce, as usual, and Biggins.

I had another Reiki session here yesterday. I do find it relaxing. DD had reflexology and loved it. We could get used to these complimentary therapies!

Sorry posting is a bit hit and miss these days but I do try to keep abreast of your news on my phone. Poor HOLLY going through it again. My thoughts are with her. Take care all and ((HUGS)) for all else who need them. xx

  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Sorry to hear that Holly is having problems, wonder why they changed her meds when she was doing ok on the others.........Nelski, gald you had a better nights sleep.

Another bright morning, off to the Drs when OH had his shower, flu jab time again. We have to go into melton this afternoon, we have moans about his denture....... I will also go to Aldi before we come home.

Carers meeting in Melton tomorrow, OH will do some more research whilst I am at the meeting. Friday we are off to see my quilting friend and take the wool I got for her.

This was supposed to be a quiet week ha ha!!

Mac cheese with jacket spud and baked tomato tonight.

Just caught TA's post, hugs to you all..........
  • Good morning all, it is a beautiful day here in the West Midlands, just like yesterday.

Thank you for starting today's thread Nelski. Good to know you had a better night and I hope Holly hasa better day.

Hello Zazen. Poppy, hope you start to feel better, my friend really struggled with the chemo. Camelot, hope your son makes a good recovery. Thinking of Speky's gran and of the TA family. I bet I've left people out, if so I'm sorry.

I am late posting today but I've been busy doing jobs which have been left while I've been unwell, starting to feel better now and trying to get the windows cleaned. A thankless task, especially the kitchen window because those horrible wasps rub their nasty little bodies all over it.

Washload 2 nearly finished. Bedroom tidied. I'm having a sit down with a cup of tea now before I start again but am resolutely ignoring K2 the ironing mountain.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

I almost didn't post today, I am feeling down about the state of the world, the Brexit fiasco and the toxic situation in America. In addition, Brian has an interview for a job in Stockholm so I will lose easy access to my darling Laura if he gets it. I know it's so much easier nowadays to keep in touch but it's not an hour down the road. There are so many others on here with much worse problems though so I mustn't borrow trouble.

Poppy, I'm sorry you've been suffering such bad side effects, fingers crossed it will all be worth it.

TA, my thoughts are with you as always.

Hugs for anyone else who needs one.

Steve's at the dr, he's got some sun damaged areas on his scalp which aren't responding to treatment very well. He also wants to ask if he ought to have the flu vaccine now he's been diagnosed with the lymphoma.

When he gets back we'll set off for Yorkshire, we'll be away until next Thursday, hopefully I'll be a bit less miserable up there, hills and mountains always make me feel uplifted so it's nice to get away from the flatness round here.
