Apple stores offer a voucher if you trade in your phone. If you aren’t too far from one it’s worth checking what they offer. You get the voucher immediately they have checked the imei/serial number. The voucher can be used against Apple products, you don’t get cash.
I traded in two iPhones 3 years ago, the prices were similar to eBay “sold” prices but with zero risk of being scammed.

Apple are just as bad. I sent a 4 yr old Mac quoted £310 and got an offer if £0 because there was screen damage. I obviously requested they send it back.
When it returned about 3 weeks later it was as it was when I packed it up, no damage anywhere. Reset it up and the screen was fine so I emailed them. They claimed several pixels had gone in the screen according to their report!
I'd sooner bin it than let them have it for free.0 -
My point is to take it to an Apple Store after checking their potential offer. Posting a phone/tablet/laptop is fraught with risk.0

You can't always take it to the store because it's not apple that accept them and recycle them. It's their 3rd party contractor Brightstar.0 -

No, you can always take it in to an Apple Store.Just post it off or bring it in.
Trading in your device is as easy as buying a new one. We’ll give you a prepaid trade-in kit or you can take it to an Apple Store.

'the internet' in this case being Apple's own website. Over some randomer on the internet. Do you have a personal experience of this going wrong that you can share?0 -

Take it you didn't bother to actually read the thread? If you had you would see what I already posted on the matter.
I've recycled a phone, my sons iPad and tried to recycle my hubbys Mac in the last 12 months. Not once was I given the option of taking it into a shop despite living 15 minutes away from one.0 -

So because you couldn’t be bothered to check what options were available, the options you didn’t know about don’t exist?
Right... :rotfl:====0 -

No not right :rotfl:. Instructions were to wait for a mailing package to be sent to me and mail it off. NO OTHER OPTION WAS GIVEN. Was that clear enough? Nothing to do with not being bothered.0
