Spam-Busting: When browsing the forum

Click the Spam Button

spam button.png

When enough members have marked a post as spam, it will automatically be removed from the forum.

The Spam button should only be used for clear and obvious spam. Please do not use the button when you just disagree with a member. The Forum Team regularly checks for improper use.

Optional - Make a post below

If you spot something that might be spam – a post or thread – but you’re not sure, you can mention it in this thread.

When posting here, please:

  • Include a link to the post or thread you’re concerned about.
  • Use neutral language (for example, “this post looks like it might be spam?” rather than accusing someone).
  • Focus on the content of the post, not the person behind it.

Other members can then take a look and, if they also think it’s spam, choose to click the Spam button on the original post.

Please remember: this thread is to flag suspected spam posts so the community can review them. It isn’t a place to name-and-shame or to pressure others into clicking the Spam button.

Check the Member List

You can see the most recently registered members here:

Member List

  • Usernames that could be company names, brands or websites.
  • Usernames that contain obvious contact details (like email addresses, phone numbers or social handles).
  • Avatars that use a company logo.
  • Very professional-looking profile photos that seem more like business headshots or stock images than everyday forum users.

Avatars and usernames like these can be a sign of a spam account, especially if the member is also posting promotional or sales-style content.

If something doesn’t feel right, you can report a user to us by emailing forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com

Please don’t engage with spammers or call them out. Some users may not realise their post or username is against the rules, and we want the Forum Team to be able to handle things fairly.

Usernames and Personal Information

While spam-busting, if you spot a username that appears to contain personal information (such as full names, email addresses, phone numbers, or combinations like a first name plus a date of birth), please report it so the Forum Team can review and help keep users safe.
