What small DFW things will you do w/c 8th October?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning all. Thanks for starting us off determined :hello:

Hope all is well, my list for today:
Put yesterday's lamb fat that has solidified in a tub in the fridge
    Post fleabay parcel
Make a cake, as I made scones yesterday and they won't last :o
    Check banking, update sheet
    Leftover roast for tea
    Make meatballs for tomorrow
Strip the last of the lamb joint
    Pick tomatoes

Hmm, that's all rather food related isn't it :rotfl:

I'm sure there maybe more, check back later. Am working form home, so hoping to squeeze a run in.

    Morning all :)
Thanks for starting the thread DNMS - hope you are feeling ok this week?
Lol PF, my posts are always food centred as well - but it is one area where small things can make a big difference to spending!
Hospital appointment today, annoyingly 30 odd miles away (we live in a semi rural area / edge of very small town, so even the 'local' hospital is about 15 miles away). It is mid afternoon so reckon we can leave directly after lunch, at least giving me time to do a few things beforehand! Done, thank goodness, and I don't need to go back for 12 months :j:j:j

    So, today's list:
Have checked banks already, need to update spreadsheet Still to do
Fold dry washing and peg out the load done late yesterday afternoon Done, but need to put it on the airer to finish off now
Put another load on to wash Done
Make a soup with nice jellied stock in fridge. I have taken out of the freezer some too-salty cooked ham (forgot to presoak it :() but am rescuing this by soaking it before chopping and using in soup. I didn't know if it would work soaking it after cooking to get rid of excess salt, but it does :) Obviously it makes it a bit soggy though, so really only useful for soups / other cooked dishes as opposed to eating it simply as cooked ham! I have plenty of veg / lentils to add :)Done
Freeze some of the scones I made yesterday Done
Freeze anything from fridge that doesn't go into the soup / needs using Just some mushrooms, whose stalks went into the soup :)
Finish up avocado hummus for lunch - don't think I will make it again. It is ok, but a bit so what, IYSWIM, and not cheap to make, though avos were YS. Had soup instead, will finish up tomorrow
Chilli / rest of baked massive courgette for dinner, just need some rice to go with that :)Done, but had jacket potato with it instead :)
Ring and make flu injection appointment Forgot, and after the hospital consultant nagged me about it, too :o
Find and pack ebay item that sold overnight :)Done, but now sold another item, so need to pack that also!
List at least one new item Listed 3, one of which has already sold :)
Label up items for sales unit tomorrow. I want to do a total restock and change everything round (love playing shops :rotfl:) I have chucked the box, with the labels into the back of the car, and will do it at the shop tomorrow!
Maybe a bit of cleaning :oCleaned the bathroom and dusted the bedroom furniture, better than nothing!
Investigated a cardigan I bought in a CS the other day. Got it home and discovered that the front had been sewn up in places. Can't think why - suspected that it was damaged or torn. Anyway, I undid the stitching and pulled out the threads and it is actually perfect, so pleased about that, as I had lost the receipt!

Plenty to be getting on with there, better finish coffee and get on!
Shattered after stressful hospital appointment (condition which can potentially get very serious) and large amount of blood tests taken, as I am involved in a clinical trial - but good news, as it is stable and I don't need to go back for 12 months, instead of the usual 6 :j

Called into Mr S on the way back for bread, potatoes, foil and porridge that I have either run out of or am about to do so. Picked up a couple of YS bits as well. Also paid for parking at the hospital and treated myself to a magazine to read while waiting for my appointment (the only time I do these days).

Did, or rather didn't do, a couple of surveys, as I was screened out, but awarded a few points anyway
Another 2 charity clothes bags appeared through the letterbox, so these will be used as free binbags - I prefer to donate to one or other of the local small charity shops where almost all of the money raised goes to the cause concerned, rather than to these businesses who state that they will give a small percentage to the named charity (check out the small print, as they do vary - a bit). Having said that, better them than landfill!

OH has gone round to neighbour's to watch a ghastly programme about American junk dealers (dunno what people would say if we British junk dealers carried on like they do :rotfl::eek:), so I am going to update my spreadsheet with bank info and today's spends, put the washing on the airer and see about an early night!

    Hi October Overthrowers,

    Thanks for the starter DNM.

    Morning!:coffee:Day off. :j

Today DW tells me we're going somewhere as a surprise. Apparently it's a shop....the mind boggles. :o I do hope she hasn't got something spendy in mind. I am shopping for a fold-up bike online: maybe it's a bike shop.

    Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Four:

    * Check online banking. Done.

    * Get some exercise as I avoided this yesterday. Still avoiding it.

    * I will make T-in-the-hole for dinner. Frugal but filling. Done.

    * I might make soup later with stuff that's fading away in the fridge. Done.

    To be continued....

Things don't have to be perfect to be wonderful.
