Armtrac - Final letter before court action

I’ve received a final letter before court action from Armtrac for a supposed parking charge notice on 26/7/18. I understand from the extremely useful info on this forum that this isn’t an actual LBCC. This ‘request for payment’ was delivered by Royal Mail signed for, so you can imagine my irritation at making a trip to the collection office yesterday morning as they’d left a card.

This is the first correspondence I’ve received from Armtrac, and there’s no registration number on the letter, so I can’t view any evidence on their website! I haven’t received a NTK as mentioned on here, and there was no windscreen notice left to my knowledge.

Seems that the advice is no longer to do nothing, but could someone let me know in simple terms what is the correct action to take. I’m certainly not going to phone them based on the info about them on this very site.

  • I'm no expert but something doesn't seem right, first of all signed for letter? secondly, no VRN??

Have they got your name and address correct?

My initial thought is to ignore and see what else they send , if anything looks like a phishing excercise.

Others might be more familiar with this particular scammer.

I’ve just noticed the last line of the letter actually says ‘payment can be made by telephoning etc.. or online at .... and entering pcn number and reg no.’ But no reg number mentioned anywhere in the letter.

    Errrrrrr.....
  • Very strange, I'm struggling to work it out, can you post link to a suitably redacted copy of the letter, use tinypic or dropbox.

Um. I’m not sure how to do that, but it’s exactly the same as the one shown in post #28 of the Armtrac security PCN thread.

Contact DVLA and find out if your details have been passed to Armtrac or any PPC recently.

The victim must know their VRN? How many cars do they have? Try them online!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Tried that, it says 'sorry, there was a problem obtaining these details'.
