slapdash, haphazard approach
Really ?!
That's very harsh.
I suggest you volunteer to be a board guide then see if you still view it the same way after a few days.
I haven't comped seriously for a couple of years due to real life getting in the way, but have been comping since 2006 and this has definitely happened before
If you can't get organised enough to be a couple of days ahead of the comps which are ending today, why on earth do you think the board guides (who are doing this to help us) should have to spend their time when it's convenient to you and not them?
Just miss today's, catch up with tomorrow's and Tuesday's and get a grip.......Best win ever: Trip to the Galapagos Islands in 20100 -
Hi Guys
I have moved the November expiring ones that I was pm'd back to the current board.
Not sure if it was a tech issue so I have asked the forum team to have a look.
Sorry for any inconvenience everyone.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. If you would like to read the post properly, you should note that I was NOT saying that the BGs use a slapdash, haphazard approach, but that such an approach would not be acceptable. I was taking it to extreme to make a point and that point is that if you take on a job, it must be performed to suit both you AND those whom it affects. Also note I specifically pointed out that I would NOT take on that thankless job and that I am most grateful to those that do. And last paragraph, don't jump down somebody's throat for making a valid comment, even if you do misinterpret it. I keep up to date with the latest posts on a daily basis, but many rely on end date due to their lifestyles/jobs/whatever, so it should not be entirely down to when it is convenient to BGs if it causes major inconvenience to others. It would be better to leave expired posts on the main board and clear them later than remove them too early.0 -
whilst I am very grateful for the thankless task the BGs do and obviously they have their own lives outside of MSE plus I don't know who does what nor when, would it not be more helpful to be moving the previous day's ending, rather than today's, if they're going to be moved so early in the day? I've read about not leaving it until the last day to enter but I expect there's a very high number of members who do and we won't know if we're coming or going if some have been moved but others haven't.
Thank you
It is almost certainly a very very small proportion of members (unless they are dis-proportionally ungrateful) - for almost any post that is open for several days there are far fewer thanks made on a post on the final day than at any other time.0 -
I was wondering why BGs don't just leave the posts on the board until the day after they've ended ... as in, why work ahead of time?
And then I realised.
It's because, in the past, people have moaned about there being "old" comps on the board.

We do wait until they have expired before moving them but sometimes glitches and slip ups can happen.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. You basically did say that.
The BGs have jobs etc. and they are only human.
Plus, comping should be fun - no need to have a go at BGs who are doing this to help out.Best win ever: Trip to the Galapagos Islands in 20100 -
I have won a competition by entering on the last day.
A friend of mine once won a cruise from the Sunday Mirror that was only open for ONE day!
However when I posted a competition on this forum that I had found on the last day imagine my bewilderment when I went to check what I had posted a few minutes later I discovered that someone had sent it into 'Game Over'.
If that is the policy then I would call it sloppy.0
