I am very grateful to the volunteers who post. I only raised the query because this has never happened to me before ever! Guess I've been lucky up until today.

    Order by Date Ending

    Order by newly posted

If you use the search function to search for a date - it will only show a max of 200 results, no good for end of month comps where there are lots more
please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly. k2u58ioz4c8e.png

People volunteer to post competitions, people volunteer to be board guides - none of these people get paid. They do it for free, .

I'm not sure what your point is. People volunteer to do it as you say. Which means they choose to do it because they want to for whatever personal reasons. They would have asked to become one. I see no reason for that to have anything to do with doing it right. Also Misslayed responded and gave the same copy/paste stuff that makes no sense either. Basically have been told that it is done at the convenience of BG's depending on when they can do it. And no, I don't think the few BG's should be able to put their own convenience before the benefit of thousands of members on this board. I'm bored with it now though so will go find the comps myself online. Just wanted to put my opinion across :) Gl folks.

The guidance has not changed for years
SUGGESTION: If you really want to only enter comps right when they are ending then I strongly suggest you get a couple of days ahead of yourself to avoid the above.

The point is that volunteers don't get paid, therefore one cannot complain when they do it to their own timetable.
If they were paid you could complain.
If you can go find the comps yourself online, you don't need this site.
    Crack on.
    63 mortgage payments to go.

    Zero wins 2016 😥

Going back to my original post I made no complaint I merely asked some questions. I have been a member of this forum for only 3 years. I have been entering competitions on this site for several years prior to joining the forum and have honestly never experienced this issue before. Whether I enter competitions on the closing date or not is neither here nor there to anyone else but myself. I have been entering competitions in general for over 30 years.

One thing I did not expect to find is forum members having a go at each other purely because I asked some questions.

This is NOT to stir any further dissent up but I'm thinking a quick check in game over of latest posted in case any are posted and moved very quickly, can someone tell me if this is the right way to do it please? Think I worked it out and if I got it right ppl might find it helpful.

Just because a job is done for free and voluntarily does not excuse a slapdash, haphazard approach. While I think that everyone agrees that the volunteers do a sterling job and we all thank them immensely for that free work done in their own time, nonetheless that work should be done to a standard that is agreeable to those using the forum and not entirely at the BG's discretion. Were I a BG (and I admit right now I never would want that thankless job!) and moved or deleted competitions four weeks in advance because it suited me or I felt like it, regularly, that would not be acceptable. Occasional mistakes are human however and no-one should get upset about that.

BTW, conversations and debates like this should also be kept to a friendly level; no-one's died. Also, quoting rules is fine but rules may need to adapt or be more firmly regulated IF the general consensus so decides AND it is feasible.

C'on folks, this is supposed to be fun, don't bite anyone's head off because they raise a point which may be controversial.

No need, just look at Game over as it is and the most recent posts are on the first page and even with a few pointlessly bumped ones everything posted today is there

whilst I am very grateful for the thankless task the BGs do and obviously they have their own lives outside of MSE plus I don't know who does what nor when, would it not be more helpful to be moving the previous day's ending, rather than today's, if they're going to be moved so early in the day? I've read about not leaving it until the last day to enter but I expect there's a very high number of members who do and we won't know if we're coming or going if some have been moved but others haven't.

    Thank you
