Airline blasting everyone's ears

Ok, not a flight delay but this seems a good place to post it. I've just got off an alitalia flight and twice they made announcements on the intercom which were so loud that if you were using earphones you were subject to intolerable noise until you pulled them out. I complained after the first incident but they did nothing. My ears still hurt an hour after the second incident. Is there any procedure for complaining as there is for delays, or do I just go to them, and if not happy go to the Italian Civil Aviation authority?

there is an option for providing feedback to the airline here (I assume under 'Other') https://www.alitalia.com/en_us/special-pages/comments-or-complaints.html

Your own earphones and plugged into the aircraft audio jack - or supplied by the airline for inflight entertainment ?
