Very late payment

Hi All,
First off I mean Very as in the catalogue... not a very late payment just to be clear lol.
I don't know if anyone can assist but basically I was due to pretty much make my last payment (a mere £10) on my Very account but missed it by about 10 days as I went on holiday just before it was due.
I have contacted them and they have said there is nothing they can do to remove this marker on my credit file. This is rather annoying as I have several forms of credit and have never ever missed a payment up until now.
Is there anything I can do to get this removed? (besides court action which is a bit drastic)

I would write to them, politely requesting that the marker be removed, as it was error on your part, and you are very sorry, but it only happened the once....etc etc
You don't have any reason to expect a favourable result though...I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Certainly don't take court action. It would cost you financially and you would lose.0

Why would they remove the marker?
It's an accurate representation of what happened.0 -
Thanks Willing2Learn, its worth a go I guess! I have cleared the balance now though so surely it should show up as cleared on my credit report now since this was in August?
zx81 don't worry I wasn't intending on doing that lol
!!! well that was a constructive post wasn't it.... wasn't really worth posting something so unhelpful mate, I'm aware its what happened but we all make mistakes, unless you are perfect?0 -

Yeahhh, thought that would be the case, well isn't that just great.
Thanks for your help.0 -
In the scheme of things, one late payment isn't a big deal.
And certainly not as time goes by, assuming you maintain an otherwise clean file.0 -

It is not the fact that it cannot be removed, it will not be removed. Some lenders break standard practice and will waive the marker on the first occasion, however I cannot see Shop Direct doing so.
There is no legal route or valid complaint for this. As someone else has advised, write to them in an apologetic manner, no attitude or demand whatsoever and promise to stick to the credit agreement in the future. In the unlikely event that the marker is removed as a gesture of courtesy, it should reflect with the three agencies within 1 to 2 months.
