I've logged in maybe 10 times today since 09:00 AM or so and performance is fine. I tried it again just now and login took less than 3 seconds. Maybe they have server groups segregated by name, location etc, who knows

For what it's worth I am using
    https://www.marcus.co.uk/uk/en/login

OK OK, it's me clogging it all up for everybody else, I plan to login again tomorrow so you have been warned ;)

There would seem to be some other factor involved than sheer weight of traffic
Denial of Service attack perhaps? I have just tried logging in, it isn't working on either my laptop or my phone. Not tried it earlier in the day.

Still not allowing me in on my account or the wife's. Tried different browsers too.

This has been going on for hours and all they can do is make weak apologies.

Shades of TSB, and there's no way I'm risking putting any more money into an account that you can't get it out of.

Odd that - and the helpdesk can't explain it. They're still saying they're trying to fix the problem, but they don't seem to have a clue what the problem is, or why it's not affecting all their customers.

You can get your money out during working days, between 8am and 8pm by phoning them.

Typical occurrence with Denial of Service attacks.

TSB said the same when their website failed. If I were looking for an old-style telephone bank I might be happy with that.

But I'm not. And I doubt that's going to satisfy many of their [ex] customers.

Fair enough. Having fewer people take up the offer makes it more likely that the interest rate remains a market leader for longer for those of us who aren't fretting.

BTW, I've just logged in successfully.

I would not compare Marcus with TSB. TSB has a track record of outstanding IT failures, systematic ones. Marcus is a challenger savings bank and I sincerely doubt they have old technology in the background. As challenger they have to try twice as hard to win customers. With old establishments like TSB and others, they may well have become complacent over the years.
PS: Logging into my Marcus account was no problem today.
