I have just emailed watchdog and am going to ring up ombudsmen/ts to complain as well.
I am frequently away from home whilst travelling on business so was not happy at all to receive 2 letters at once!
What a waste of my precious few days at home let alone the risk of scarring credit. I wish I had money outstanding then at least I could just pay and get it over with but I am certainly not paying again no matter what they do.0 -
Watchdog are on the case!
They called me at about 5pm this evening, the researcher was ringing round,
speaking to people who had contacted them, so if you still have not been in touch with Watchdog, then contact them ASAP!0 -

Good news!
I emailed over the weekend sending details of my experience - not had a call yet - but good to hear they have been getting in touch with at least some people.

I too had quite a long chat with a member of Watchdog team this evening who I contacted the end of last week. They are very interested and asked lots of questions, and promised to be in contact again should things escalate. I believe everyone who has been involved with this problem should email or call them, the sooner IJ stop harrassing people the better.0

Its good to know that Watchdog are taking this one up - they have been in touch with me as well. I discussed the fact that I ordered, paid for & then closed the account in 1 phone call so how could they say money was outstanding when they had not only confirmed the transaction went through but that the account was closed as well at the time. Obviously this means I have proof but why should I be harrassed for this type of info on a closed account as well - seems like they have taken info from before the account was closed or somewhere else altogether!0

I've had a phone call from Watch Dog too!!! They want me to go on TV (gulp!!) I'm so glad I didn't pay up straight away. My bill has now gone up to £8.99 after receiving another letter. Sent all details to Watch Dog. Let's hope they nail this bullying Company. My sympathy goes out to all those people who they frightened and harrassed into paying ficticious bills. Will let you know if I get my big screen debut!0

I got a mail from Watchdog, and am going to speak to them tomorrow. The more people mail the better!
BTW, did anyone notice that Britannia removed the button from their website allowing you to cancel a recording in their last weeks of operation? You also had to quote a code to cancel.
I ended up emailing them querying and they said my recommendedrecording was cancelled....Then the website went altogether and was "under construction".
I'm thinking they added a transaction to everyone's account at that point, but didn't dispatch goods or send us statements as they knew they were going under.....0 -
My first letter from "Intrum Justitia" demanded I pay my outstanding Britannia balance of £25.20.
I phoned the 0870 number and explained that I had returned some DVDs (where Britannia managed to duplicate one of my orders) and had a "Signed For" postage receipt to prove these had been returned.
I also mentioned that a CD I ordered had not arrived, thinking this might help explain how the so called debt had accrued!
I was asked to fax a copy of the postage receipt and unfortunately, my fax software would not accept a scan from the scanner, so I had to send a copy to the PO Box in Harlow. I also sent them copies of my last few "Order Confirmation" e-mails from Britannia and even wrote down when these had arrived in the hopes of closing this quickly.
Yesterday, after a real bad day at work, I received a 2nd letter demanding £37.70. I phoned the number again and unfortunately lost it with the representative, as their attitude gets under my skin (not their fault). They claim not to have received my correspondence. Of course, you can't send "Recorded Delivery" items to a PO Box number, so they have another little scam here as well!
I was told that if I responded to the first letter, then I don't need to worry about the 2nd!
A friend offered to fax the information (which I posted again yesterday) on my behalf this morning, but before this was done I received a phone call from Intrum wanting to know how I'm going to pay my balance!
I told him that a fax would be sent. He asked me to phone them when it had been sent.
This I did, only to be told that the fax is on a different floor and it would be 2/3 days before they could confirm receipt - allegedly my account is now on hold, which the women said yesterday (and it obviously wasn't)!
What I really think of this Company I can't put here . . .
Depending on the response, this will be another for Watchdog.

Hi All
I too have had letters from IJ, as per the advice in this thread I requested a copy of the agreement with Britannia. I got the following Reply.
"Unfortunately we are unable to provide you with the information that you have requested. I can confirm that your account has been returned to Britannia and you will receive no further telephone calls or correspondence from IJ."
Looks like a result to me.
Best of luck
