I have been with VM for 8 years and have no problems contacting them. Only major fault I have had is when I needed a new router but all maintenance and call outs are free. I do sign up for a year but have been able to call them to get lower price. Currently £93 a month for VM full house which includes BT sports in 4K, sky sports but not HD, 100mb BB, anytime telephone. The BB runs at 110mb and I have had 200mb service before but the lower speed makes no difference to my use.
I am waiting to see what Sky sports in HD/4K offerings come along having just got my cataracts fixed. Never had any problems using the newer V6 box which is a lot faster than the older box. If you have a scart only TV them the V6 does not support scart. If you use a video sender which uses scart then you need replacement kit for this otherwise a second V6 box which costs. You need BB for the V6 box but can connect wirelessly.
If you do switch telephone you can get a new number or port the old one but I found it useful to ditch the old number and all the cold calls thatI was getting. Now very careful who I give the new no to and have only had 2 cold calls in 8 years. I also preferred an overlap of a few weeks between services to make sure new service was ok.
  • For me the thing that swings it for vm over sky is getting bt sport plus where I live the broadband is miles faster!

A couple of overall observations about VM:-

    1. VM customers often have BB speeds that are much higher than they actually need. They (generally) pay for those high speeds - often a fair bit more than the cost of Basic Fibre (38Mpbs FTTC) that would suit their needs just fine.

    2. Because VM has separate infrastructure all the way to the front door, it can become "sticky" in that there can be a practical disincentive to switch based on the possible need to obtain or to reactivate a BT line if moving to any other BB provider.

    3. Whilst there is a ready downgrade path with Sky: Sky->Now TV->Freesat, there is nothing similar with VM. In fact, they seem to disincentivise downgrading by arranging their prices so that shedding elements of Pay TV or higher BB speeds does not save much money.
  • VM broadband is brilliant but the tv is not. You’d be better with a freeview/Freesat pvr and NowTV.
