Agree re not having the whole story, but I think in fairness OP might have referred to tenants in their first post, but meant AirBnB Guests (the term AirBnB use for the people who book stays in properties through their site). Is that it, OP?0

Adrian1995 wrote: »They manage the property via AirBNB (from all the repeated questions, I'm guessing people don't know too much about AirBNB?) - well I think many posters do; but again its irrelevant. This means they have keys, let guests in etc. - You seem to argue that logically they set up an account and are therefore entitled to keys. That's simply rubbish
I don't think there's much more to be said on this thread - AirBNB can do as they please (the point of my OP was to question that), and I need to take my own (legal) action to prevent this from happening. - AirBnB aren't 'doing' anything. Your ex is, and you're doing nothing about it.
Thanks for all the advice everyone - much appreciated.
Not sure what advice that is, but you seem to have taken nothing away - best of luck0 -
I understand how AirBnB works it's just that some of your answers don't add up. One minute you are referring to tenants, the next there are no tenants and never have been. Then you think your ex can have the locks changed on your property even though to claim to be the legal owner. Then again, you haven't answered the question about beneficial ownership.
I agree with Pants, AirBnB is a red herring.
I can see where the use of the word tenants caused confusion. These are AirBNB 'guests' I believe is the correct term.
I hope my -ex wouldn't change the locks back (they certainly wouldn't have any basis to do so - they have never lived there, all bills are in my name etc.) I mentioned it because it was a concern.
Thanks again for your ideas - I should hopefully be able to resolve this.0 -
OP, what is your plan for the property? Do you want to rent it to long term tenants (a serious business undertaking that requires research on your part), or would it be easier to just sell it? Presumably you wouldn't want to deal with AirBnB any more. Once you make a decision and start to proceed, the property won't be viable for AirBnB use anyway. They are an EYESORES!!!!0

Comms - not sure what your issue is here? Most of your comments / questions can be answered by reading the thread. Do you just post to get your post count up?
There are some helpful people here who understand the situation and have provided useful suggestions (again you can see these by reading the thread) which I will take away and use to resolve this.0 -

Excellent best of luck.
- as an aside and not aimed at the OP in the slightest. Isn't the obvious answer to take the key away from the user. I often end a romantic relationship by offering my ex partner a job managing my AirBnB.0 -

Undecided at present, but this isn't my only rental property.
We seem to have drifted off track here - my OP was all related to AirBNB and how they allow Users (an AirBNB term not mine or a legal term) to abuse the platform and take zero action to rectify the situation, or provide any support to legal owners of the product their platform is designed to sell.
I've resigned myself now to that's just the way it is, and will work to resolve this directly with my -ex using some of the ideas posted here.0 -

The advice given is generally correct/sensible but you're still evading WHY your -ex had the keys/access to the property, what agreement there was with him/her to 'manage' it and what legal steps you've actually taken to address this. An injunction waved under AirB&B's nose would put a stop to the issues - you say you've done the 'legal' route but don't appear to have had any success with this - why ?
I suspect the OP is deliberately avoiding anything that would give advice s/he doesn't want to hear.
My questions haven't been answered, ive read the thread.0
