We booked to go with Primera Air to Spain in June. They cancelled within 14 days and we had to rebook flights with a different provider at additional cost. We submitted a claim for compensation but have been chasing them for response ever since to no avail.
Is anyone else in the same boat and what are our next steps? I'm assuming the chance of getting any compensation is now extremely unlikely.0 -
I have 3 flights booked with Primera next week totaling £294 (for all 3) paid in one transaction on my Barclycard Credit Card
These are over the £100 section 75 limit in total but individually each ticket is less than £100 Would we still be covered for a refund under S75?0 -
Hi,
I had a cancelled flight back in August, which they rearranged to a different airport for me. As i could no longer use my train ticket from BHX, Primera agreed to pay compensation for the non refundable ticket. On the 2nd September, they confirmed via email that I would be paid the full amount in 4 weeks (taking me to the 30th September). Come 1st October and no refund appeared, I sent a chasing email yesterday. Then it was announced they'd gone bust.
Any advice on my rights here? I have in writing that they would pay the compensation.
Thanks

But what have you got to lose? I would make a S75 claim for the £294 payment and see what happens.
Is there any chance that your travel insurance covers this? That may be another line to pursue.0 -
Hi Fiona,
I am in exactly the same position, they owe us just shy of £200 and have been promising to pay it. Last week I rang them and they said there had been a 'mistake' with the email regarding payment within 4 weeks, and said that everyone would be paid at the end of the year. Now they have gone bankrupt! I am beyond furious with this airline! I have spoken with Citizens advice, the Insolvency bureau and all of them say that we have to wait until Norway's version of the Insolvency bureau release information and then we can get on what will be a very long list of creditors and get a tiny bit of money back.
Wishing everyone in the same position as me the best of luck!0 -
Probably like a lot of Primera Air passengers I had a promise from them to pay compensation for a delayed flight in July. Waited 30 days, contacted them yesterday and now they're gone. I booked through an ATOL covered travel agent.
I'm assuming ATOL is just for the serious emergency flight and accomodation stuff and the compensation is gone (no point in joining the administrator queue). Can anyone confirm?0 -
we had our flights delayed for this weekend by over 8 hours and they notified us about 6 weeks ago. We managed to get a refund on those delayed flights in less than a week with no real issue0

Correct. You are classed as a creditor of the airline but will be far down the queue, as you state. ATOL have no responsibility for paying you in this instance.0 -
Would you put £1000 in a scheme where it says your money is at risk? Would you fly with an airline with no CAA/ATOL protection? It’s a risk and sometimes go sour, buying tickets at cheap prices comes with the risk.0

British Airways, easyJet, Ryanair, Flybe, and flight only on Jet2, TUI, Thomas Cook.... all of those are not ATOL protected for flight bookings. And most other airlines.
It’s more a case of you pays your money you takes your choice, do your research etc...0
