OP personally I don't think you have a cat's chance in hell of having a £1K refund but I'm also of the opinion if you don't ask you definitely won't get.
But can I just ask is this the choice of the (hopefully) bride to be? Because I wouldn't be buying anything that expensive on the off chance she liked it.0 -
She's definitely the one
She's going to love the ring no doubt. I don't want to sound cheap but like I said we're talking £1k here and not a 10% discount etc. Put yourself in my shoes and you'll understand

Trust me, no one here thinks that potentially saving £1,000 is sounding cheap, that is the idea of this site after all! :beer:0 -
I think if you ask then to give you a partial refund you won't get anywhere. If you can, return the ring and get a full refund. Make up a story about why you are no longer getting engaged. Then once the refund has gone through, go back and buy it for half price. Or go to a different branch.
I would go for this approach too. Make no mention of the discounted price.0 -
Thats a bit mean. Maybe he knows his future fiancee's tastes very well.
exactly my OH had my ring made from scratch and it is spot on really showed he paid attention to what I like
Good Luck OP both with the refund and the proposal xFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

But I'd make sure that the store you went to had the size in stock otherwise the OP could come unstuck with this cunning plan.0 -

Well it would take a bit of nerve, but if he got a full refund he could go back to the same store and buy the same ring back for half the price!0
