Garage has registered my car in OHs name
Hi, first time poster so apologies if this is in the wrong place.
I’ve just got a new car but with a poor credit rating couldn’t get Finance. So it’s been taken out in my husbands name. Peter Vardy have registered the car in his name instead of mine and he’s managed to lose the flaming log book. How on earth do I get the log book changed into my name and reissued? Contact the garage or does it have to be in his name because the finance is (I don’t think so). Insurance is in my name and I’m paying the monthly payments for it.
Any help / advice would be really appreciated!

I would check your finance agreement to make sure. It may say absolutely nothing but it's clear you aren't certain.0 -
First, get a replacement V5C. That's easy enough.
Second, check the finance agreement. That may require the V5C to be in your husband's name.
In any event, why does it matter?0 -

Finance companies get very jumpy about what you and your husband have done, so i wouldnt go ringing them asking advice.
If they ever do have an issue make sure your husband is clear its a car you both share and he drives it 50% of the time. Stick to that.0 -

The OP hasn't said any of that. Just "I’ve just got a new car but with a poor credit rating couldn’t get Finance. So it’s been taken out in my husbands name." No mention of husband driving.0 -
I would read your agreement very carefully. A condition of a lot of finance companies is that the agreement holder must be the registered keeper and in some cases the main driver too. You should really have looked into this before taking out the finance.0

Even if it's not true?

If the finance company get wind of it, the choices are :-- Tell them the husband drives it 50% which they will almost certainly accept
- Tell them its actually the wifes car, at which point they will cancel the agreement and demand immediate full payment or the return of the car.
Which would you suggest the O/P does of those two?0 -

I would suggest not commuting fraud would be the best plan....
As previously mentioned the OP needs to read the finance agreement. If the RK needs to be their partner then so be it. This may however cause an issue with the insurance IF the OP has declared that they themselves are the RK.
I wouldn't start drawing the finance companies attention to these circs.0 -

That ship has already sailed - so which of those two options would you recommend the O/P choses if the finance company do pick up on the anomaly -
Give a broad brush 50/50 usage or have the contract nullified?

Which is what i said up front.0 -

I think we generally agree.... except
I wouldn't suggest that if the finance company call to make further untrue statements. I can't see why they would though so let it as payments are being made.0
