Esa

Options
Hi so I just got the form through for my esa assessment to see if I’m still entitled i filled it out and sent it off now if I have to go for an assessment does anyone know if transport would be available as I’m currently in a wheelchair and wouldn’t be able to get a standard taxi. Now I currently get hospital transport for my dialysis and all my hospital appointments but I doubt that will include my esa any info on travel to esa would be helpful thank you

  • You could ask for an assessment to be done at home, they may/will ask for a GP's letter to back up the request.

You could ring your GP and ask but how do you normally get to your appointments with your GP?

Remember you can only cancel an appointment once.

You can claim travel expenses https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/employment-and-support-allowance/help-with-your-esa-claim/esa-medical-assessment/

If you are going to use a taxi you need to get this approved in advance by ringing them.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

I haven’t seen my gp in over a year for my prescriptions I just ring up and then they send them to a chemist for delivery and yes I claimed expenses last time it’s just where I live I don’t know any taxi firms that have capacity for a wheelchair

If you need to request a home assessment then a letter from your GP will most likely be needed.

Yes tell him it's for an ESA assessment. The letter must state the reasons why you can't attend one of their assessment centres.
