Called Asus tech line this morning and exlplained my blue ray drive is dropping from device manager only when a disc is inserted.
Their advisor agreed I should try the Y double usb 2 to mini connector which I hope to receive from Amazon today as my Asus drive includes model D whereas its Model C -that needs only one usb connector so dual connector is way to go -hopefully.

And I got small refund from e-bay with the cable I had ordered which is nice.
Only Amazon;s Wed's delivery cable in error though I'm not sure if I could cancel one of two items as I would like at least Blue ray movie to arrive.

Received Miniusb to Y dual usb2.0 cable from Amazon today.
Amazing as I also ordered a blue ray movie which is playing fine.
I can only assume Asus Tech advisor was correct this mormning in advising the blue ray rrive requires the dual usb cable which provides enough power to drive External Writer.

Lesson. Learned as I have 2nd delivery from Amazon with another cable- It could be returned
Nice afternoon with tech resolution.
Maybe I'll find time to purchase a small pack of blank blue ray discs in a few weeks.
What a difference models make with 'C' using single usb and my 'D' using dual usb.

Found streaming movie to Sony t.v. Via Plex today.
Trialed a few mins of another dvd movie-uploaded via plex server late afternoon as I forgot where the add to library tab was on left menu.
That's my final post as I can enjoy blue ray writer if and when required.
Result in able to add one or two DVD movies to Apple 4k t.v.
Getting used to Plex or maybe Infuse.
Haven't got any blank discs yet-maybe in a few weeks I'll try writing function
