I ran a similar powered usb hub
setup with a macbook/AirPort Extreme/ external HDD which worked.

The previous Advent 7 ports usb hub I had used quotes:-
It is powered by a 5 V adaptor which helps to provide extra power, making it ideal for charging your hardware and mobiles via US

manual recommends you do not connect via a hub...
find a usb port on your computer which has the flash symbol (looks like a lightning bolt) this port will provide more current than a standard one. otherwise find a usb 'y' cable you can use, I hate usb powered devices they are a pain.

Amazon has usb2 Y cable -though 30mm -laptop is approx 33mm between sockets each side.
Though for £5 approx it's worth a shot.
Meanwhile I seen a few secs of Spiderman Skystore DVD -though my writer is certainly dropping from device manager and media players when dvd's are inserted.

AS blueray writer is usb2 I ordered my cable from Amazon
I've since ordered the latest cable you mentioned-why? -and upto 10th Dec I could have at leastt searched u.k.

As I wrote earlier, if you wanted the cable quickly, via a UK seller, you needed to purchase the caddy.

Cancel the things that you have already purchased. Don't bother to open them.
