Unfair UKPC parking charge notice Metrocentre

Hello everyone,
I’ll try not to be long winded and I would massively appreciate any help I can get!

Today the driver parked outside the blue customer car park at the Metro-centre.
Two hours later when returning to the car (parked at 8:30 and returned to the car at 10:20) there was a yellow parking charge notice on the windscreen.
this demands £90 or reduced fee of £50 in the next 15 days.

They claim that they have “reasonable cause to believe that the following breach of terms and conditions occurred on private land” these stating “staff member parked in no staff parking area”.

Now there is no proof either from photographs or written that the driver works at the Metrocentre and they don’t have any evidence.

Only to further this does a parking charge have to give a grace period of 10 minutes before being able to give the notice? In this case the notice says “time first seen 9:30” and then “issue time 9:30” leaving no grace period?

upon reading the forums people saying many different things, ring them, email them, appeal it, ignore it, and at the minute there is no hope of forking out £50 in the next two weeks.

Thanks in Advance

edit your post above and stop using the words "ME , MYSELF & I" for starters

use THE DRIVER for what happened on the day

if this was a windscreen ticket, send the blue text template in 25 days time , appealing as KEEPER

no blabbing about who was driving

and what does the signage allow for parking ?

ie:- is it 2 hours free parking ?

and do you have to register the VRM anywhere ?
  • Hello,
The signage states no staff parking, there is no time so you can park for as long as you like free of charge without having to enter any vehicle rev.

so free parking with no limits in the blue area for genuine customers ?

do you have a receipt or anything to prove you paid for breakfast ? (a receipt or a bank statement etc ?)

complain as a CUSTOMER to them on the following page

    https://intu.co.uk/metrocentre/centre-information/contact-us

complain as an OCCUPANT of the vehicle, no blabbing about who was driving

a landowner complaint and cancellation is your best option, so if this was a windscreen ticket spend 24 days complaining , LOUDLY , TO THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICES

    and EDIT post #1 above , no "ME , MYSELF & I"
  • Yes it is free for customers to park for as long as they please with no charge.
I do not have any receipt from this morning since I paid with cash and never get a receipt for food in the Metrocentre as it has never been necessary.
Can complaining to the Metro-centre even get this anywhere? As the notice is not informed by the Metro-centre by by the UKPC?

    Thanks again!

    DO NOT IGNORE IT

    DO NOT CONTACT UKPC YET

    DO NOT PHONE UKPC

the METRO CENTRE have employed UKPC to monitor their car parks, so they have joint liability , hence why you complain to them FIRST

I would complain direct to the METRO CENTRE as a genuine customer that the vehicle they arrived in was unfairly targeted and that no occupant of this vehicle is a staff member

a genuine customer having breakfast should not get this petty hassle and as landowner or agent they should complain to UKPC and get it cancelled (give the METRO the VRM and the pcn reference)

tell them that this is a disgusting way to treat genuine customers

if they have failed to manage to cancel it in 24 days time, so by oct 22nd or so, appeal it as KEEPER direct to UKPC using the blue text template located in post #1 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread near the top of this forum

do NOT alter that blue text template in any way, no additions, no edits , nothing , use "as is"

come back if you need further help and post on this thread about it

and post if you get it cancelled

its down to you to do what I have said, do it properly and you should be able to get this unfair pcn cancelled

At POPLA, UKPC will have to prove the driver was a member of staff and was working that day
  • After following you advised and ringing the Metrocentre the colleague has told me that this happens all the time and that the only reason The car will have been targeted is because it was parked 15 minutes before the shops open!

The colleague has proposed to ring UKPC first thing on Monday morning and that this will be cancelled off when the situation is explained?

What utter utter garbage, when the Muppets from UKPC read this thread as you do, this proves what scamming scum you and your incentivised "profit centres" (attendents) are.

I'm sure they wouldn't attempt to chance this scam and expose themselves in court!

Why are you considering paying ????

UKPC are known scammers and now FRAUDSTERS because
they fake pictures to extort money.

Who is this "colleague" ...... someone at Metrolink or just
    a bad advisor ?

As Redx says, you do not ring them, that will not get
it cancelled and you might be scammed into thinking
you must pay ...... you don't.

If you do not appeal to them in a proper manner, they
must send you a POPLA code to further appeal and we
    will help you with this.

THE FACT YOU SHOULD KNOW ....

UKPC are able to obtain keeper details because they
are members of the BPA .. British Parking Association

The BPA are trusted by government to adhere to a code
of practice ....... trouble is their members such as UKPC
and many others flout this code
The BPA does very little to enforce the codes and hence
UKPC are still operating even though they are fraudsters

So, right now, there is a broken system and the BPA
is unfit to be involved in the great parking scam

Now you know, please ensure everyone you know
    fully understands this

Let us know what happens next

the question is , what do the signs say about parking there at say between 0800 and 0900 on a weekday ? or a saturday ? or half an hour before shops open ?

they should state that parking is free from 0900 if they wish to enforce that rule
