"After looking through the BPA's Code of Practice ourselves and speaking to BPA we have realised that the 'Grace Period' is only 10 minutes in total and not 10 minutes at each side of entering and exiting.

WRONG, the two periods are explained in an article by a top (if any are at the top of a group of bottom feeders) ''BPA suit'' here:

    https://www.britishparking.co.uk/News/good-car-parking-practice-includes-grace-periods
We also understand the BPA's Code of Practice is only for its members guidance and is not enforceable. Therefore, UKPC does not need to follow the Code of Practice to the letter. "
    WRONG.

The Supreme Court (in the terrible decision they made in ParkingEye v Beavis in 2015) held that the CoP was essentially a form of regulation, without which ParkingEye could NOT have obtained DVLA data or pursued a charge.

    That MP is utterly clueless.

  • We found this thread yesterday after receiving a UKPC notice for exceeding the 3.5 hour limit at Hermiston Gait on the 14th September 2019. We had got some shopping from Tesco and then went to Wren for our kitchen design appointment.
We went into Wren again today and showed them the notice. They've seen them often enough that they have a process for it. They take a photocopy of the notice and contact UKPC (not sure if directly or via Hermiston Gait management) and will provide confirmation that we were in store for most of this time. Their system has a log of the time our appointment started and ended. We were in there alone for more than 3.5 hours.

Might not help everyone who receives one at Hermiston Gait but thought it worth mentioning in case anyone else has an appointment at Wren, or even B&Q, if that particular store provides a kitchen design service. Will update when we, hopefully, receive confirmation from UKPC.

As an aside, I'd say avoid Wren like the plague, have you not Googled them?!

You can see if a UKPC charge is cancelled by logging in with your VRN and PCN numbers.

  • Yes, we have Googled them, thank you. We also Googled the other kitchen companies that we looked at, watched YouTube channels and videos and based our decision on what we saw along with local reviews and friends and family reviews.

Thanks for the other information on checking.
