Why have you engaged with them after getting all the advice to ignore??
...because of my reasoning given higher up in this thread, and have followed advice given in this thread on how to do so without shooting myself in the foot. I have involved MP and retail park manager among others too as suggested in a thread offshoot from the Newbies thread following the HoC debate (entitled "Should we get tough?")
Not going to be engaging with UKPC now that they have given their "final decision". Waiting to see if the retail park facilities manager or MP can do anything about it but that's all, I've tried!
Cheers for reply0 -
"re-read post four of the Newbies Sticky and follow its advice with gusto..!"
Will do! Thanks, bracing self as I type...!0 -
Get one of these in readiness for the debt crawler letters.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0

Bloody good idea...can make good use of these in our firepit...!0

Having emailed the retail park Facilities Manager I got an automatic reply saying it was now a different person in the role, forwarded email to them instead, within 30 mins they had emailed back to say they would contact UKPC, have heard back again the next day to say they can confirm the charge has now been cancelled and UKPC will be sending a letter to me to that effect... A success story after all... Thanks to all have helped advise me on how to handle this, you're all great! :j:wave:0

That is indeed good news.
Don't delete those emails.
And please come back and tell us when UKPC have written to you with confirmation that the 'charge' has indeed been cancelled.0 -

Further to above I am happy to report I have today received the cancellation letter from UKPC...phew, relief...hopefully saving a few trees in debt collecting letters...
Cheers all0 -
And as an interesting aside, prior to receiving cancellation confirmation i received an email from my MP's assistant saying they were unable to help further, they commented this:
"After looking through the BPA's Code of Practice ourselves and speaking to BPA we have realised that the 'Grace Period' is only 10 minutes in total and not 10 minutes at each side of entering and exiting. We also understand the BPA's Code of Practice is only for its members guidance and is not enforceable. Therefore, UKPC does not need to follow the Code of Practice to the letter. "
Which I found rather concerning... the code of practice certainly reads as allowing two 10 min minimum grace periods, at the beginning and end of the parking period, but also the fact that the BPA membership is apparently just for guidance, so apparently with optional parts, take or leave the bits members want to use?! so they are 'protected' by it but do not actually have to adhere to its code of practice?? utterly shambolic and so wrong...
Signing off now, though I will not hesitate to seek advice from this awesome forum if needed in the future.
Many thanks again0 -
