  • Thank you, Colsten.

I don't need to try any of these things because I have you to advise me:)
  • Opened a Marcus account this morning. It was simple, easy and a small transfer from link account arrived quickly. No concerns about security (no more than any online financial institution). Not sure how quick it will be to withdraw money. Once issue - they would not accept a Tesco Current account as the link account (had this problem with Masthaven recently as well)

    It's immediate, give or take.

Just opened Marcus Savings Account- transferred money in and out between Nationwide FlexDirect very easy and transfers showed up on statements within a couple of minutes both ways.

Just transfer £1 now to give it a try.
I always do that to test it before transferring large amounts anyway.
I have never had money go astray in transfers, but its sometimes been delayed a couple of days, and it gives me peace of mind to know I must have entered the right numbers etc because its gone OK before.
(Sometimes the pound goes instantly, but the large transfer following is delayed by security checks or whatever.)

  • Yes Glen I did that, always do and the transfer was quick. Will soon transfer more across. Pity they do not recognise Tesco Bank. Fortunately I have NW FlexDirect too.

IT on this site is terrible. I had problems populating the fields on the application, they were not filling out properly and the software kept telling me I hadn't filled out different fields. It did not also list United Kingdom or British as a nationality in the drop down box provided. I think I put down something fatuous like Ukrainian in the end.

Now when I've tried to go back into the account prior to transferring money, I find that my password is not recognised (I made a note of what I used, so I've not got it wrong) and when I request a password reset, 3 times it's failed to send me a new security code to my email account and has finally locked me out. So what the heck is going on with the IT with this company?

They don't list any contact details in the UK either, so there's no-one I can call to clear this up. So they're not going to get my money, I'll transfer it back to Family Building Society where it was previously. At least I know that there's a human being there to speak to unlike this bunch of time wasters. Not worth the trouble for an extra 0.15% in my opinion!

    Its Marcus, not Markus

Are you using the uk site? marcus.co.uk? (not .com)

Sounds like you have used the .com site and not the .co.uk one. United Kingdom is the first item in the drop down. Misrepresenting your nationality on a banking application is pretty dumb and could cause you all sorts of problems

You'll have more luck here I suspect
