Parking Fine after car was seized by police

  • this does not add up , when a car is siezed ,it is taken to a secure compound , and you have to pay fine and show release form and documentation to collect it , it is NOT left on the streets

    I,m out
  • I agree totally... and I have proof that I did not collect the car as I have a letter stating that there were some items left in the car and that I had 7 days to collect which I didn't bother with so think the garage that collected it sold it and didnt do the paperwork

and yes I was told by the police if it wasnt collected in 14 days would be crushed but not the case it seems and also the car was MOT'd by someone after it was seized
Not possible. Sorry but I don't think anyone actually believes any of this.

    Why was it seized?
  • It was seized because I had no insurance... and I have the paperwork to prove it was seized and that I didnt collect it

So what did you do with the V5 document?
  • Nothing as thought it was seized and scrapped/crushed...
  • Ive been to court for this offence and had to pay costs etc!... 6 points on my license etc etc.... just don't understand how I can be liable for a parking fine 2 months after it was seized

Unfortunately you have not accounted for the pure inefficiency of the DVLA I suspect.

Personally (and I know they say you don't need to do anything) I would have sent off the V5 scrapped vehicle section as you can't trust anyone these days especially the DVLA.

But if you have a documented time frame showing you did not have the vehicle in your possession and the Muppets try a claim I would think they would be the losers.

In any case they exist to make money and will keep the pressure on hoping you fold.

Just my opinion others may have other options.

if a ticket was placed on the car , the parking co cannot get info from the dvla until day 28 after the event , and to hold the registered keeper liable they have to deliver it to the keeper within 56 days

You have made allegations , stating that the car had been re mot ed and a possibility that the garage sold it , those are serious aligations and you would have recieved a letter from the DVLA if someone had tried to transfer vit to there name , you are (as we stand) as the registed keeper liable for road tax and insurance , have you checked the vehicle status (ask MID and DVLA sites?) , you need to get the v5 out of your name ASAP ,

if the car shows as taxed and insured , then report its THEFT to the police
  • Will get on that now... and I know the car was MOT'd after it was seized as I have an app that shows it was MOT'd and the date... Thanks for your help
