Installing a log burner help

Hi,
I am installing a log burner in my house and i have been in contact with my local council building control to get it signed off but i have been advised by them that they don't sign them off and pointed me in the direction of HETAS.
I then contacted HETAS who advised they only sign off their own work - fair enough but they then pointed me back in the direction of my local building control.
So i have been back on to my building control and it took a couple of emails for them to register that HETAS have told me they cannot sign them off...
Now the last response from local building control is that the work needs to be removed and HETAS back out to install the log burner :rotfl:
So my question is, is there anything else that can be done? Surely the local building control have to be able to sign off log burners? Otherwise HETAS can pull my pants down and quote me what ever they like for what is a fairly easy job for a builder to do for a fraction of the cost whilst meeting all building regs.
Bemused...

Why hasn’t your installer signed it off?0 -
Seems like Solid fuel is now like Electrics and Gas, you can't "officially" DIY.
On reflection probably a good thing.0 -
Because they are not HETAS registered so they cannot sign off, which is why i've contacted the council0

Why would you expect Building Control be able to sign off log burners any more than you'd expect them to service your boiler or sign for its safe installation?
If you've used a contractor to do the installation then you should have asked them about what they are able to do and sign for. Did you check they were properly registered? If you've undertaken the "fairly easy job" yourself then you should have done some research first. HETAS are there for your safety, not simply to inconvenience you.
As I see it, you've no choice but to approach HETAS again and ask them to reinstall the boiler and sign it off.0 -

Building work is yet to start0

No problem then, just find a HETAS-registered installer to fit it and sign it off.0

Building control have a duty to sign them off as installation is governed by building control. You do not need HETAS0 -

I dont know about fitting log burners. I just googled as best as i could and cant find anything to suggest it has to be fitted by a HETAS registered installer. It can be of course but nowhere can i find where it is compulsory. Care to help someone who doesnt know what theyre talking about locate where said building regulations are?0 -
It depends on which BCO you talk to. Taunton Deane charge over £250 to sign off the installation of a wood burner, so most people go down the HETAS route.
Some BCO's feel that they don't have the knowledge to sign them off.0
