Best way to change sterling into Euros when buying a house abroad

Can someone advise me the most efficient and secure way to change Sterling into Euros in order to transfer money to Spain for a house purchase?
I am assuming High Street banks are a waste of time. Are money brokers secure? All tips gratefully received

We use https://www.currencyfair.com/ for all our international transfers. They have a simple £/€3 transaction fee
Other folks in the same boat have also used transferwise but I think they charge a % which may be more money on larger amounts.
