Switching - have fibre BT, want Std B'Band

Hi, I'm with BT at present on a Fibre contract that ends tomorrow and reverts to £52.49 pm
I'm looking at switching to a Std 10Mb (typically 3-5Mb) contract with John Lewis as we don't need high speed.
My question is, "can I expect it to work ok with my existing Fibre line or will I need some expensive work to re-establish an old fashioned wire connection?"
Many thanks!

By fibre, do you mean fibre to the home, in which case you probably won’t have a copper line, or do you mean fibre to the cab, in which case you don’t have fibre in your premises, it’s still copper.0
-
All Openreach will have to do is disconnect the VDSL/FTTC connection at your local cabinet and then reconnect the ADSL connection back onto the line at the exchange.0
-
JL use Openreach line and if you're on BT then its Openreach line so yes you can use it. Also £52 for just fibre is a rip off, plenty of offers for <~£25/month0

Thanks Guys,
They installed a new fibre connection to our house when we moved in.
We have an open reach Echo*** GPON box inside the house that has an "optical" socket which the "wire/fibre" from outside plugs into.
From this box it's an Ethernet type flat wire going to our HomeHub0 -

Ah! that sounds like you have FTTP. Are you in a new build? If not, did you have a phone line to the house before they provided the FTTP? If you do, they should be able to re-activate it and put ADSL onto it.0 -

It is a new build but there was a house on the site previously that had a copper line. We got the fibre installed when the house was finished.0 -

Looks like the OP is on FTTP, hence the high price. This is going to severely restrict his choices if there is no copper to the house.0 -

Yes, as I said, I'm on fibre. The old copper termination is still there atop the telegraph pole 5m from the house so shouldn't be rocket science to re-connect if necessary.
Why not just use the fibre, beats me?0 -
Ok, are you saying that, since I don't have a copper wire to my house, I'm limited to fibre contracts?
Surely they can just re-connect my old copper wire; just as if I was back at new-build stage and wanting a new contract?0 -
Goto https://www.dslchecker.bt.com and check what comes up, if you see the "WBC ADSL 2+" or the others under "ADSL Products" then you can get the Std BB.
John Lewis site should have a checker where you enter your address + current BT number anyways to check for you as well. If it shows the std bb option then you can most likely get it.
How much is JL btw? Check out the Plusnet/Sky offers here too:
