  • I sent them sourcrates wording and they wouldn’t send that.

    All they will agree to is;
We will send you the following statement that advised that your account has been closed. "Paying this amount will be accepted as a full and final settlement on the account, which means your account will be closed and we will not contact you about it again about."

Is that enough? Even though the last “about” doesn’t make sense to me.
It only states "we will not contact you about it again" .

It doesn't say we won`t sell the remaining balance to some bottom feeding debt buyer and they will continue to hassle you for the money.

Personally that`s not good enough for me, the standard National debtline letter uses the terminology that they won`t agree too, which automatically makes me suspect them of being less than honest.

I would tell them to do one, have you done a CCA request on this debt yet or at all???

Something else I’ve found, is this good enough?

that's standard spiel about being marked as partially  satisfied which is correct.
just wait for the email reply you sent asking will the difference be written off or sold on and take it from there
I can cope with standard spiel if it covers me! I’ve lost hope they will respond to me before tomorrow when the payment is being taken
I wouldn’t make the payment until they reply to your email like Stu said. I don’t think there is enough reassurance yet that the remaining balance won’t be sold to someone else

you can phone them and ask for a reply today and actually discuss it on the phone as they always say all calls are recorded
Christians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

Looking for some advice please. One of my lenders has defaulted my loan and I want to reduce the likelihood of a CCJ or escalation, so I was planning to see if they'll accept a £1 token payment just so the debt is acknowledged. Would that impact how quickly or if the debt will be sold on?

In addition, one of my debts is with MBNA credit card. I've missed more than 3 payments on this card and the last letter they sent stated they would stop my ability to spend on the card. They haven't sent any further missed payment letters following this, and I'm starting to wonder whether they will default my account or just go quiet. Is there anything I can do to encourage them to default my account?
Token payments are a waste of everyone's time to be honest, I would be very surprised if they got legal, normally they will just engage a debt collector or sell the debt to someone else.

Should they choose the legal route, they must send an LBA, which gives you the chance to make a payment arrangement without the need to proceed to an actual claim, so token payments are unnecessary really.

To encourage default, just keep on ignoring them, it will come.

Never bank where you have debts.

  • Hi all! DMP newbie here. I have a lot to say about Nationwide’s attitude to DMPs but need a few days to decompress from the panic attack they gave me this morning when they blocked my bank account (containing my full month’s salary) whilst I am abroad with my son.

Happy to have it resolved (to an extent) and grateful to find this group.
  • Going to a self managed dmp. Few have not defaulted yet after a long time so waiting. Halifax and virgin

sainsburys defaulted a month ago and sold to past due credit. PDC put my account on hold for 30 days

    Hello!

I’ll try and keep this short… £8,0000 credit card debit, not SB and enforcable. stayed court proceedings that claimant has now applied to lift and send to fast track presumably for ccj for non payment. At what point can we no longer approach claimant to make offer of repayment? We are still waiting for them to tell us if this debt is one subject to payment plan with another creditor that’s been transferred to them. They’ve ignored this request and pressed on with requesting the stay to be lifted. Or shall I just include this detail when I return the directions questionnaire? Have no issues admitting the debt just wanted the point above clarifying!! But will probably end up with CCA if they continue to ignore our question. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated
  • If I stop paying all of my loans/CCs, and put the payments aside to build up an emergency fund as suggested (hoping the accounts will default), how does this then work when setting up a DMP? As surely then I will have those savings and they'll want me to use it all to pay off the debts?

    Who are "they" Bob?

Unless you are a bankrupt and the Official receiver is in charge of your money, then its no one else's business what money you have or what you do with it.
