stu12345_2 said:like I said when they offered me a discount that was the wording they wrote to me, and when I wrote is that a definite that it will never be sold on , all i got was a reply saying yes that's correct
you could email with the same question I asked will the remainder be sold on or have you wrote it off
if they reply saying yes, that's correct ,it will be wrote off, then you save the email and pay the settlement figure
on a side note, I don't think I've ever come across a post on mse where pra have ever sold the remaining debt on after a full and final settlement price has been offered and acceptedHi Jordan,Can you please confirm one more thing before I make payment? The difference between what is owed (£4659.81) and the agreed payment amount (£2918.00) is £1741.81 and will be written off and not sold on to a third party for recovery in the future. If this is correct I will proceed with the payment immediately. Many thanks, Lisa.1 -
the ccj will be in your credit file for 6 years from the date of ccj regardless if it's defaulted
any defaults that led up to your ccj will also show on your file for 6 yearsChristians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

I have Dyslexia which is a learning difficulty that primarily affects the skills involved in accurate and fluent word reading and spelling so some post may not make sense.0 -

lowering payments via stepchange won't force a default imo.
stopping paying will, but you can't pick and choose who to pay if you are on a dmp with stepchange
do as floss says, run your own dmp, pay the defaulted ones and not the non defaulted ones.0 -
Hi all, I am about to enter into a self managed DMP. I remember seeing a link to charities that can support this and there was a recommended group that engage face to face in the south of England with various branches - may have been run by the church.Anyone help?0

here's a list of debt charities , some do dros but all should do dmps
it was Christians against poverty that come to your home, they work all over the country, their main office is in Bradford, they are closed Wednesday for telephone advice
if you do use CAP , they will come up with a solution, you choose to use them fully or not at all. if not at all you then lose the rights for help as your going it alone. they normally only allow one time ever usage with them.
unlike say step change, where you can bounce back to them.agsin for advice

We will send you the following statement that advised that your account has been closed. "Paying this amount will be accepted as a full and final settlement on the account, which means your account will be closed and we will not contact you about it again about."
Is that enough? Even though the last “about” doesn’t make sense to me.
It doesn't say we won`t sell the remaining balance to some bottom feeding debt buyer and they will continue to hassle you for the money.
Personally that`s not good enough for me, the standard National debtline letter uses the terminology that they won`t agree too, which automatically makes me suspect them of being less than honest.
I would tell them to do one, have you done a CCA request on this debt yet or at all???Something else I’ve found, is this good enough?0 -

Looking for some advice please. One of my lenders has defaulted my loan and I want to reduce the likelihood of a CCJ or escalation, so I was planning to see if they'll accept a £1 token payment just so the debt is acknowledged. Would that impact how quickly or if the debt will be sold on?
In addition, one of my debts is with MBNA credit card. I've missed more than 3 payments on this card and the last letter they sent stated they would stop my ability to spend on the card. They haven't sent any further missed payment letters following this, and I'm starting to wonder whether they will default my account or just go quiet. Is there anything I can do to encourage them to default my account?
