I’m 2 years into DMP now and I had a from MBN* this week who had transferred my account to Westcott saying they’d made a mistake last year when they defaulted me as I had continued to make payments and that as a gesture of goodwill they have deleted the default and cleared my £4100 balance. Anyone heard of this before, I can’t believe it!!!!
thanks

StepChange told me that they had heard of a number of clients getting the same letters recently too.0 -
My Tesco credit card is now showing as defaulted on my credit file, I have since received a letter stating that the debt is now being managed by Moorcroft.
As there is now a default I am going to make contact via letter, do I write the letter to Moorcroft or Tesco?0 -
I think Moorcroft will write to you , that’s been my recent experience . Thanks0

All the four defaulted accounts I continued to make payments on but my understanding was that they are entitled to default the account should you not be making the contractual payments. My payments were under these amounts I know that so I was just confused as to why Lloyds have said they shouldn't have defaulted the account......certainly not going to argue with them but maybe I'm missing somethingDebt Feb 21 - £51,388.81 May 25 £22,743.91 55.74% paid off

Defaults.
Anything other than full contractual repayment, can result in a default being applied to your account.
Section 87, consumer credit act, covering defaults, is concerned with guidelines on when a creditor should apply a default, these guidelines are interpreted in different ways by lenders, hence the disparity in how customers are treated.
Generally in debt management, defaults are better than AP markers, as they are gone after 6 years, AP markers stay for 6 years after your final payment has been made, so will affect your credit file for, potentially far longer than a default would.
Creditors are not normally concerned with how your credit file looks when making these decisions, so its important you get the result that is right for you.
