Hi everyone,
My last credit card debt has finally defaulted.
Now I think I'm ready to set up DMP with StepChange.
My previous current account with -£500 overdraft hasn't changed its status though and its still shows as OPEN.
I don't want any longer as it's already been 8 months since I stopped my DDs. So my question is:
1.Would it be okay to start DMP now, and then pay off that overdraft in the near future, instead of waiting longer for it to default as well?
2. I've just noticed on my credit report that one or the debt collection companies carried a hard debt collector search on my credit file.
Is this anything to worry about (does it mean I.e they want to take legal action against me) or is it a standard thing they do?
Thank you 😊

DCA`s run searches all the time to try and judge your circumstances, nothing to worry about, debt collectors can`t take legal action, as its not there debt, only debt purchasing companies will do that, and only if you ignore them for a good while.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hello again!
Its been almost 5years since I started my journey with the help of people on the this board and as expected things are starting to escalate now I’m getting closer to the 6year mark.I have received a court claim for a £3000 catalogue debt. I have recently requested the CCA from Reston’s in response to their letter before claim which has been returned twice. However the address and date on the paperwork do not match up (not correct). I know it can be a true copy but surely the details have to be accurate to make it enforcable. I’ve acknowledged the claim to the court with the option to fully defend ticked I just have no idea how to word it or if this is enough.Thank you in advance (and for all your help in the past)0 -

Hi everyone
I am early in the process, my first default letter has come through and with it a letter stating account terminated.
I cannot see this default on my credit file yet.
Do I make contact with the original creditor once I see the default on my credit file with my income/outgoings and say I can afford to pay x amount or wait until it is passed on?Thanks0 -
Hi,Just looking for a bit of advice please, we have received a letter from one of our credit cards saying that they have issued a Default (we haven't received this yet and it's not on our credit report) and the account has now been passed to Moorcroft. We have now received a letter from Moorcroft saying our account has now been passed to them but it says ND on behalf of their customers have given them the ability to put us on a payment holiday due to the Covid circumstances. Then it says down the side about making payments on their website etc. I'm sorry but i'm not sure what we do now, do i contact them to set up a payment plan or do i just go onto the website to do this? or do i wait until the default shows and then do it? Thanks0

I've just noticed down the bottomof the letter from the credit card co it says if you do not resolve the situation we may give you notice that we intend to register a default with the credit reference agencies after saying at the top of the letter a Default notice has been issued?

Afternoon allIt’s been a while since I last posted and so far nearly all of my accounts have defaulted and I’m now trying to agree payment arrangements . My question is about income and expenditure - in the templates that have been issued to me I am being asked for my income and expenditure which is fine but then also a breakdown of other debts including the amounts owed and repayment amounts. Have you shared this breakdown as part of you I&E ? Payments amounts will vary for each debt ? Just wondered if you have had any issues with this ? Have you withheld or just shared the info requested ??In addition I have 3 accounts that I have been holding out for default , 2 I have received notification this will now be issued so will await to see this on credit file. One which is on my file but no communication yet?? I guess just the slow process and wait .Thanks for your comments and ongoing support0
