dibdabbers said:Hi all I posted a while back and I am beginning my debt free journey, I have a lot of debt. I have cancelled direct debits and am awaiting defaults then will set up a self managed DMP. Anyhow I am now super stressing as I rent and have received notice that I need to leave my current property. I know that I will be credit checked, my credit score is on the floor now and I have defaults, is the going to impact my checks, im worried I wont get anything. Any advise appreciated
I don't have experience of this myself, but please try not to fret.
I'm a little confused because you say on the one hand you are awaiting defaults and then on the other you say you have defaults. If you've only just started cancelling your DDs then you are really just at the beginning and defaults take at minimum of 3 - 6 months after stopping contractual payments and in reality they can take much longer than that.
When do you have to leave? Can you maybe look to move a quickly as possible before setting up your DMP - or if not and the your credit situation puts potential landlords off, you can make the point that in DMP land, housing costs are treated as a priority debt and therefore come before payments to others.0 -
Hi
Just wondering if anyone knows what happens if StepChange overpay a creditor when the balance is cleared. I have tried there online chat and they don’t know and I have been waiting on the phone. Hoping someone had a quick answer.

They have set up a dmp with stepchange due to start this month. They had a small emergency fund but have had a awful couple of weeks with everything going wrong. Unexpected car repair bill and a ill dog that needed treatment.
I've suggested delaying starting the dmp by a month and starting next month instead but they are worried about upseting the creditors and stepchange.
Is this feasible or a bad idea?
Point number (2) Neither are your friends, your relationship with them is purely a business one.
Point number (3) Anything is possible, best to wait 6 months if they want too, save up an emergency fund, don`t rush into a DMP totally unprepared, its their DMP, no one else`s, don`t go looking for creditor approval to everything, that`s not the way to deal with them, you dictate the terms, not them.0 -
SC dmp review day.
This years Tel call hopefully resulted in bringing forward end date to Dec21 which is very nice if all goes well.
+15 pounds bringing payment up-to 115 per month.
Let's hope this year isn't too difficult.

Hi all posted fairly recently regarding a CCA request to PRA for which I have already had some great advice on here. I have sent this into the AAD forum but just waiting on an official response from them. PRA's latest letter said to contact them within 10 days which will be up on Thursday. I am not really sure what to say when I contact them as I have no idea if the account is enforceable or not at the moment. While on the subject I also have two accounts with Tesco one a loan (taken out 2017 so not going to bother with the CCA on this) the other is a credit card taken out in 2004 so was wondering if I should send a CCA request for this one? They are both still with Tesco and was a bit worried a CCA request on the older account may force them into pursuing further action for the newer one. Was also wondering if I am best waiting to see if it gets sold on before I send one. Thanks0

You've no need to rush to contact PRA and I'd just wait to find out what the AAD forum advice is.
As for the Tesco debts, you do tend to find that the original creditor will hold the necessary documentation - but you're still entitled to request it. You never know, especially with regards to the 2004 account.

Well in preparation for exchange (wish it had already happened) I have contacted all providers on my husbands behalf to check about him giving me authority, and I asked Tesco what the protocol is with regard to negotiating an offer given that the debt is CCJ'd. They said that if the case is in recoveries I can negotiate a lower settlement (I just told them I am getting a redundancy pay out and won't have the full amount), as it has been CCJ'd since 2002 and he has another 121 years to pay if he keeps paying the monthly amount he does now I think I stand a good chance.
All letters prepped to send to Gregory Pennington to give them 2 weeks notice, and one requesting a CCA from one provider which will have to go about a week after exchange too.
Tesco have said that the payment needs to come from a card registered to the address where his agreement is, so I am going to have to get him to change the address with Tesco before I make payment.
Other than ensuring he gets an email confirming they are happy to take the payment in full and final settlement before I pay it is there anything else I need to do?I am a Protection Adviser. Hi, I wrote to all my creditors making a CCA request. PRA how now responded attaching some information from Barclaycard (18 pages) with a cover letter saying they have enclosed documents received to date and are awaiting further documents which if they receive in the future they will send on. They have also advised that they have currently deemed the debt as unenforceable.I know I could potentially just ignore the debt now ( I have cancelled my direct debit with Step change already) but I would like to try and do F&F settlements on all my debts (6) as my partner received a sum of money so ideally we want to try and settle them all hence why we started the request process.Could you advise what my starting point should be on this particular debt? 10%? 20%. Is there also a particular letter template I should use when offering the amount.
i guess that PRA could still potentially obtain further documents and it becomes enforceable .Thanks in advance for any advice0 -

Time_To_ChangeHi I have recently had exactly the same letter from PRA for a barclaycard account. Less than a week later I had another letter from them with some statement copies enclosed and a cover letter to say I had to contact them within 10 days to arrange payment. Still not sure if the debt is enforceable or not but they did come back pretty quick with the further paperwork in my case.0
