  • Today was a NSD for me and I made this delicious Thai Shrimp Soup: https://damndelicious.net/2015/02/18/easy-thai-shrimp-soup/. It was so good, easy and the spicy warmth hit the spot perfectly! I downsized it for just two servings and there's one left for my breakfast tomorrow. It is definitely going into my rotation, especially for wintertime. I actually did it as a test run for when I have friends over for dinner next weekend.

    TOTALS SO FAR:
    3/12 NSD
    €91.95 / €300.00
  • Well got few bits I forgot in Fridays shop , on Saturday only £6.06 still enough left , just finished the roast beef and more apple crumble from yesterday .
Determined to stick to this budget.

An NSD for me again too. Tomorrow won't be; I already have a little list! Nothing expensive or unanticipated so far, though; I'm expecting it all to come to around £12 and most of it will last for the rest of the month, though not the bread & bananas. My meal plans are working, now I have time to make them & stick to them again.

But the allotment is suffering; I've scalded my wrist & can't do a lot for a few days. Luckily, at this end of the week, we have plenty of veg in already. Hopefully I'll be able to get up there tomorrow to "harvest" and should be able to spend some time weeding etc. later in the week.

  • Hi there. Last month did not really go according to plan so I don't know exactly how much I spent but I have been putting everything into my spreadsheet so far this month which I am very pleased with myself for. So I would like to try again this month with £150 again, please. I do a month payday to payday so that will be 25/09/2018 to 25/10/2018

So far this month we have spent:
    28/09 - Heron - Freezer bits (Linda burgers, Quorn, etc) = £8.19
    29/09 - Coop - Milks and bread = £4.13
    08/10 - Morrisons - Cupboard bits = £8.46

    £150 - £20.78 = £129.22

I'm wondering if I have given myself a really big budget but we are yet to do a big shop so will see how the rest of the month works out.

Tesco value squash still seems to be going strong in my Tesco Extra. I buy the blackcurrant one fairly often. Not the orange, but that's only because I'm not super-keen on orange squash... I'm terrible for making myself a pint of squash, drinking half, and then maybe coming back for the rest an hour or so later! The orange flavoured drinks seem to get really "bitty" if you do that, and leave a scum at the bottom, which the "pink" drinks don't do.

My Tesco also used to do a lemon value squash, which I also liked sometimes, but I haven't seen that for a couple of years now.
Because it's fun to have money!

A couple of spends for me today on a bottle of water for DS who left his in the house on the way to school and a box of crackers for cheese free from style which I have put away for Christmas. I haven't seen these before and usually buy several packs of different crackers so this is a cheaper option.

A squeaky £328.82/£360 but we have masses of food in the house and are away this weekend and the last week of October.

I somehow need to find the time this week to make a ginger cake, energy bars, some leek and potato soup and prep and freeze some of the veggies we got in our veg box so they don't get wasted.

I may need a couple of bits for our pack lunch on Saturday and will need milk and fruit for next week but that should be it. Just remembered I need GF garlic bread for the weekend away too.

DH is at a concert with his Dad tonight so I will see what odds and sods I can find in the freezer for my tea :)

Only spent £3.20 in the end, on bread & bananas - more will come, as & when - and didn't manage to get to the allotment either! So will try again tomorrow... not in need of anything currently, but we'll run out of a couple of things in the next few days.

  • Late meetings had me thinking I was going to miss the grocery stores and accidentally squeak by with a NSD. I found an open one before jumping on the metro and was able to buy some berries to last me the next few days. €4.98 spent on a container of blackberries and a container of raspberries.

Tomorrow I'll get some spinach or kale to saute and eat with one of my burgers. I think I'll have to wrap up two of them to go in the freezer because I don't want them to turn on me. That whole actually cooking what you meal plan thing ( :rotfl: ) worked out for me earlier this week so I was just alternating between the stroganoff and the Thai shrimp soup.

    TOTALS SO FAR:
    €96.93 / €300.00
    3/12 NSD
