We had the veggie pasties using the recipe I shared and DH suggested making them with a samosa style filling which is easy enough but I am struggling to think what I could serve this with for dinner or do I just use them for lunch boxes?
Nice to see you here again @XSpender. :hello: For the pasties, maybe you could serve them with a sliced/shredded cabbage salad that has some nigella seeds thrown in to keep that same flavour profile? Or if you don't want a cold salad then this warm Indian and Pakistani cabbage dish may be good, sabzi bhaji: https://www.saffrontrail.com/cabbage-sabzi/.
EDIT: Here's another good recipe: https://www.archanaskitchen.com/patta-gobhi-ki-sabji-recipe-cabbage-tomato-sabzi. These are both vegan recipes and are GF, btw.
My first NSD today. Hoorah! Tomorrow I'll hit up Lidl for toilet paper and plane snacks. I still need to package up the pork chops but I'm absolutely shattered and need to do some computer tasks and client work tonight. I'll try to rally a bit before bed and put away half the steaks.
TOTALS SO FAR:
1/12 NSD

OH went to a*da on the way home to get a bottle of wine to toast our wee cat whom we had to get put to sleep today out of the blue, and also bought 2packs of his favourite cereal bars for his pack lunches that were on offer. So £8.00 spent there.
I just saw this @medsdemon. I'm so sorry about your poor kitty. That's a darn good reason for a bottle of wine.

I'll second that. So sad for you; it's bad enough when you know the final farewell's coming but worse still when it's out of the blue.
An odd day today. Money was spent, but not ours... I've cooked lunch to take to my mother's tomorrow, for 7 or possibly 8, 2 of whom are vegetarian. I did a large lasagne for the omnivores, and a smaller roasted squash lasagne for the vegetarians, to be eaten with allotment veg and followed by apple, quince & blackberry crumble. Had the mince, had grown the squash & other veg, had the pasta, grew the apples, quinces & blackberries, but somehow had nowhere near enough cheese, or milk! 3 out of 4 full-time residents (myself & the DDs) don't take milk or eat much cheese. The other one - does! Anyway, I know my mother will reimburse me for every penny spent, so I'm not going to add it to my totals although any leftovers will come home with us, bar leaving her a meal for Friday.
So - technically an NSD, I feel...Angie - GC Aug25: £292.26/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -

JingsMyBucket - thank you for the recipe idea, I think that will work well as it will add a bit of moisture to the plate.
medsdemon - so sorry to hear about your cat
£3.99 for me to add this morning for bread. I thought there was a loaf of DH bread in the freezer but I had already used it. Picked up a loaf for him and 3 loaves of my favorite GF bread on the YS trolley.
I am pulling together a long list for a shop this weekend to last until the end of the month or at least until when we are back from our holidays on 28th as we will need some fresh bits then.

Had to do this recently too. Hope mine and yours are playing together somewhere looking after each other :A
Some spends already, as DD2 needed stuff for cake sale at school. However, i had to then buy some pre made from work as she didn't think hers were good enough; and didn't want the other kids being mean, as she had really wanted them to go well. Personally i thought they were fine, and ate one when i got in from work to verify! She also picked up some bread flour and milk for me. So total of £7.89
Then at work i spent £3.89 with the cakes and some YS bread ( can't bake a loaf til tomorrow or Sunday) and YS lettuce and peppers.

Tonight for me will be yasai itame with slim noodles. The tofu is defrosting on the side for this.
OH did make his lasagne last night so he'll be having that for dinner tonight.

£134.21 left.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
Thanks everyone for the thoughts with losing my poor cat
It’s not been a fabulous week back after my holiday as I had to say goodbye to a dear friend too who passed away last week.
Spent £10.50 at Sainsbobs last night as my dear friends were cheering me up with an evening nibbles and drinks catchup so called in and bought wine and some nibbles to take with me.
Hopefully no spending now till Monday on the shopping budget else I’ll never make it 😳.
Tonight I’m cooking chicken casserole and mashed potatoes. YS chicken out defrosting.
Over the weekend, I have things in to make a lovely veggie curry and lentil Dahl, for a “Better than takeaway”meal and a big bean chilli to see us through a dinner and some lunches.
I also ant to have a go at making my own GF wraps as I’d like to have a go at making enchiladas next week.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend :beer:Grocery challenge October: £228.28/£250.00 NSD 4 ( not completed)

Can I join please! £110 for us for the month. Two adults, one cat, including cleaning stuff and toiletries.
We've already spend way over half of this!!! but I'm confident we can make it work because the freezer and larder are FULL.
£26.25 on our allotment rent for the year (we always try to take allotment stuff out of the grocery budget).
£29.99 on an approved food order that included lots of noodles, tortilla wraps, curry pastes, mango chutneys and lime pickles, tofu, crackers, syrups, and the best lucky box I have ever received.
£5.60 from wilkos for what my husband called "a year's supply of deodorant" and some bubble bath for me that I kind of wish he hadn't bought because I am on a vow never to spend money on this, but it was a sweet gesture.
£8.71 from Tesco which included some glue to mend something that is broken (which should come under household maintenance but there's nothing in that pot so it will have to come out of groceries) cheese and milk.
So I have £39.45 left to last till the end of October :eek::eek:
But like I said, the larder and freezer are rammed, we've had a really good harvest this year. We are cooking with friends on Sunday and between us we are working our way through a cookbook. I've chosen the recipe that needs the least stuff, so I'll look to buy that today. After that, my plan is to live out of the larder, maybe just buying milk and a few other bits as necessary.Grocery Challenge £114.22/ £1100
