I do think pressure was put on them by the card networks to change their working model.

That's a red herring, when it was possible to do things such as pay a £1,000 Aqua card bill with a Curve card linked to the same account, make a free fiver and get another 40+ days interest free credit. :rotfl:

Ah, all becomes clearer. Certain other Card Issuers were losing out on interest payments + a fiver a pop by customers effectively 're-billing'. So Curve did have its uses after all.

That was just the icing on a big, fat, juicy cake.

People know how to manufacture spend for benign reasons and there are good reasons why it isn't widely discussed online.

By being so open, you're helping money launderers with methods to carry out their nefarious activities and will accelerate the speed at which such loopholes will be closed!

Anyone else tried a "go back in time" switch with curve since all this sudden change of T&C's and stuff going on.

Every time I try it now, curve claims pre authorisation if the underlying card has been refused. Tried switching to any of my cards and they all fail. I have successfully used each individual card directly since this has been failing and the cards all work. The issuing banks are Co-op, Sainsbury's, Aqua and Reliance. Because it happens to all of them I can't help thinking this is a Curve issue.

I get the same. In my case I tried to move a small transaction from Aqua CC to Tesco CC.

I wonder what would happen if I withdrew £100 from a cashmachine using Curve linked to a credit card; then went back in time and moved that transaction to another credit card. Would both credit cards charge a cash fee?

I would guess so. Both cards would see it as a cash advance when it hit them, so would charge a fee. When Tesco CC started charging cash fees on all Curve transactions a while ago, I went back in time and moved some transactions away from Tesco to a different card (AA); they showed up on Tesco as a refund/reversal but the fees charged by Tesco stayed there. Until Tesco eventually caved and refunded everyone, that is.

I suppose the concept of a "cash advance refund" doesn't really make sense to credit card issuers so there probably isn't a provision for the fee being reversed even if the transaction is.

    Problem fix now, apparently.
  • I withdrew some cash two days ago and wasn't charged a fee. The category assigned to the transaction was "Stored Val Crd Purch Load", whatever that means.
  • Will be interesting to see how they treat HMRC payments.
  • So if I pay my Halifax mortgage on my 0% purchase card will I pay a fee?

With the new dynamic MCC, it would make sense that paying off a mortgage, or credit card, would more than likely be classed as a cash advance.

Therefore, it is likely it would incur a cash advance fee and not be interest-free.
