  • Thought I better check in! Had a busy day to day two different work men in and out the house doing various bits - quite greatfull I rent at times like this as doesn’t cost me a penny.

Today was another no spend day, I did spend over the weekend but nothing that I wasn’t prepared for. I had a friend and her baby over so drunk copious amounts of tea and had a natter whilst the babies slept.

Went well telling my friends about New Years, we have decide to go a cheaper route as they really want us to come so very happy with that.

OH mum gave us a casserole dish which I’m so greatful for as we were going to have to buy one for winter meals and a toasty maker so he’s happy!

Should be another no spend day tomorow, hoping to get out to cash this check.

Noticed today that my isofix base the button is getting stuck so got on to John Lewis to get a new one or have it repaired as it’s warranty so chuffed.

No more debt busting as of yet, my mat allowance comes in next week so I will take some of my debts so that should drop.

Anyways have a good evening all x

  • Urrrr today is a write of already. Little one kept me up all last night, something about 4 month sleep regression apparently so I am a walking zombie this morning and doubt I’ll get much done ! I’m going to try to get out this afternoon and to the bank but otherwise I’m catching up on my sleep. Plus side it will be a no spend day!!

  • My DGD2 is also going through this 4 month sleep regression. My DD after a week of hourly wake ups decided to start gentle sleep training last week and she has slept right through 11 hours for last 2 nights. First time ever and she is over 5 months old. Very little crying except for first night and that was whinging rather than full on crying. She is also much happier as getting more sleep. Controversial though I know.

Annoying about your OH. My DH is totally disorganised so he never had a sole credit card as he too would forget to pay it. He has a card on my account. Frustrating about the late payments as that will show up when you want to get a mortgage unless you wait 6 years.

O really, people had warned me about it but I was a bit ignorant towards it. My little one has slept 12 hours since 10 weeks old, down at 7 and up at 7 so really threw me off when she woke up at 4am this morning and just wanted to play until she had a bottle then fell back again. I have noticed for the past two weeks shes been fighting naps in the day time which I suppose was a sign of something coming.:rotfl:. I have started today putting her in her bedroom for naps with the monitor on and so far shes had nearly 2 hours as opposed to yesterday were she had 5 20 minute naps. Shes still in with us at night so instead of leaving her down until we go i might put her up at 7 with the monitor on so she can settle into a deep sleep and we wont have to move her. What sort of sleep training are you doing? Isit a routine you follow? FTM here so haven't a clue what to do :rotfl:

He has never had credit untill about two years ago he got a small £250 credit card to take away with us abroad, which we then thought we paid of when we got back. No letters for missed payments or anything then 2 years later an £800 balance, the card inst even valid anymore. So from now on I oay all his bills/debt payments and I check his banking apps to make sure of balances etc. Suppose I better get used to doing it :rotfl:

  • So I have been trying to remember things to do in my head and to be honest I am forgetting them all -

So I am going to make a to do list and update every Monday - I am not giving myself loads as I want to spend as much time with the baby as possible.

    To do:
Set up Baby's bank account -
    Collect BBQ from my sisters
    Babys Jabs -
    Clean my mums house -
Pack for this weekend (off to a wedding and staying over -
    Organise my filing system -
Organise big pile of paperwork on my table -
Re-list things for sale on ebay -
Contact JL about warranty on Isofix base -
Plan Food Shop for next week -
Get back to the gym three times a week -

    That's enough for now :)

Also I checked bank accounts this morning and for some reason my self and OH have extra in there unaccounted for - did i over project :/ So I am going to wait as DD for house haven't all come out yet and may need to spend a bit this weekend whilst away but if there is extra happy days !!!

Yes, I did not really know anything about sleep regressions but when my DD had her DD1 she was an awful sleeper initially where she would only sleep on someone and needed rocking to sleep with a dummy in. Only doable with lots of help and in desperation DD used the Ferber method to sleep train at 7 months and now at 3 years old she is a great sleeper. Goes up between 6pm and 7pm and sleeps until 7am. She has done that since being sleep trained but before that it was every sleep cycle of 45 minutes she wanted rocking back to sleep. DGD2 is a bit better in that she does not need rocking but regressed to waking every 45 minutes since 4 months and needed a dummy put back in. Sleep training involved again the Ferber Method (on day 5) and getting rid of the dummy. She is now sleeping through. Woke up for a feed at 4.45am this morning though but went back down again until 7am. The wonder weeks app and book gives loads of information about the regressions. DGD2 now has about 3 naps a day with the longest at midday. Gets up at 7 am and goes to bed at 7pm.

Every baby is different though but having one which sleeps 12 hours at 10 weeks is brilliant. Hope you manage to get back to that soon.

Re your OH, I know you are reluctant to treat him as a child and take over responsibility for bills etc and I was the same with my DH but I reasoned he was brilliant at DIY and does most of that and I am more on the ball with finances/life admin so it is just a case of using our skills to the best advantage. I make him look at our budget spreadsheet once a month though.

  • Just checking in quick. So busy this week with everything going on so not a lot of time for writing ! I’m still doing this!! Still doing my no spend days, however this weekend will not be one as we are away at a wedding. Probably won’t get much time to log in over the weekend but I will be back Monday to update everything and continue our debt busting ! Have a good weekend all x

  • Feeling disappointed today. I have been doing so well and just let myself down this weekend. Being away at a wedding it was so hard not to spend money. Food on Saturday morning, drinks at the wedding, food this morning the money just goes. It’s going to be a tough rest of the month. We have spent any of the extra cash we had left over , had to dip into our emergency fund aswell! The positives though - we have food money dedicated for each week untill pay day and I haven’t used any credit cards etc so we are no more in debt we just can’t make the extra payments and need to top up our emergency fund. You live and you learn. I need to rethink my budget for additionals to I haven’t been factoring any of her in. O well. Tomorow is a new week and I’m more motivated than ever ! x
