  • Yay so a great start today!!

CC 3 - has gone all paid and cancelled , just waiting to see any interest that may have occurred on the new statement !!

OH overdraft - paid £200 so currently £1300

    CC 1 - paid - £712 left

So I was listening to the bank when OH was lowering his overdraft and the overdraft fee and interest is RIDICULOUS! so a thought I had was to apply for one of those MBNA money transfer credit cards to pay it off and the pay it from there, had anyone done this? Also isit possible to transfer balances from a credit card to? I’m thinking we could transfer credit card 1 as that starts gaining interest soon? Let me know.

Went to Aldi and really disappointed my self , for the last 5-6 months or show has always been under £50 so today it came to a grand total of £63. Confused as to why that did include nappies/wipes and all healthy dinners so won’t dwell on it to much just going to see if we can save a bit more next week.

Also got robbed out of 89p for one of them trolley tokens as I didn’t have £1. Well at least I have it now on my key chain so for good!

Will update my signature later to reflect, now I’m going to have a child Friday with the baby. Up at 6 tomorrow to go to the next sale with my friend! I will not buy anything, I will not buy anything!!

Must feel so good to pay off a credit card!
    Store card £140 £117 - Store card £150 - Overdraft £200 - PayPal £364 - Loan 1 £5052 - Loan 2 £1733 - Credit card £2890 - Car hire purchase £3200 - Savings £0.
  • One credit card gone is a good start.

Stay strong on the next sale unless you have cash set aside for it.

If the charges on the overdraft are high then a 0% money transfer card is an option if you can get it.

  • Hey Saturday !

I felt disappointed earlier but spinning logic in my head realised I wasn’t as bad as I thought.

So I went to next this morning for clothes for my little girl, I was taking some money from our savings as she needs warmer stuff. I brought £22 worth of clothes for her and £31 home stuff! Yes I know what your thinking but wait....

We were gifted next vouchers from my OH work when little girlie was born! We had £40 left, so I paid her clothes with the next vouchers and then my stuff with my cash so really I didn’t spend anymore then I was expecting to! But I won’t be going shopping for a while as this is what it leads to.
I also had to pop to Asda to grab some bits as we are starting to wean her so some porridge, bowls, spoons, sippy cups came to an additional £20.

So total spend cash - £51
However we do still have £18 left on her next voucher for the next bits she needs.

I also picked up my cheque from my dads to cash Monday and we have stayed in today as the rains rubbish and spent the day playing and reading books with our daughter.

Plus my mum reminded me she owes me £100 which she will pay me next week :) so that will be coming of the credit card. About to sit down and have dinner.

    Enjoy your Saturdays x

  • AAHHHHH I NEED TO VENT!

So OH won’t be accepted for MBNA Card, I was curious as to why as he doesn’t have much debt in his name. So I checked his score on Experian and it’s ‘poor’ - again why? He only had £2600 in his name , the 18k is in mine and my score is still good.

So I asked to look through the credit card account! This card expired at the beggining of 2017! He had £100 left to pay and because he is that useless with money he hasn’t paid it and has gained interest for over a year and late payment fees! I checked in 2017 and he told me he had closed it. Iv told him we will draw a line and move on but that is so infuriating. I have had debts since I was 18 but I have always cleared them and never missed payments etc so it’s hard for me to understand why he let it happen. Anyway just needed to vent. It’s done now and tomorrow it will be transferred to a 0% for 24 months barclaycard and I will make sure the payments are made untill it’s clear. :j

  • Completely understand your frustration. Thank goodness you found out and have been able to act on it. You are doing well.

  • I know thank goodness I looked into it. I don’t want to manage his money he is a grown man and after all it is his money but I know deep down if he’s in control he will do it again :( .

So today I need to repost the items for sale on a different site, the one I have used isn’t ideal I don’t think.
We are out for dinner at my parents tonight and I’m going to potter and clean the house whilst OH takes the baby to see his dad.
Our friends have asked us to rent a house for New Years a big group of us which started of at £100 a couple so thought ah that will be okay but now has creeped up to being nearly £400 a couple. So I have the tough job of telling them we can’t go today, I just can’t justify that amount for one night whether we had the debt or not that’s a lot of money that could get us a week away in England. So wish me luck!

Plus side is baby weaning is going great she’s loving her porridge . Down side I need to purchase a high chair and hand blender so we can feed and prep food. So will be spending the next few days looking around for the best deals , other half had some spare cash left this month from his wages so waiting for all DD to come out of his account then will see what we have to work with.

Wishing you all a relaxing Sunday x

Hope it went well explaining to your friends about New Year.

When my DC was a baby, I initially bought a more expensive high chair from M&Ps but found the best high chair was the one from IKEA which was a really good price!

  • Great news on paying off one whole CC, that's a great boost to start you off.

I feel your pain with your OH - mine took months and months to get on board with debt busting and being sensible money with money. He wasn't unwilling, just didn't put the thought into it that I did, leading to silly mistakes and unnecessary overspending. He is miles better now, so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

A shame about the NYE house - we have had to bite the bullet and turn things down and it's always really uncomfortable, but it's never as bad as I think.
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.
