Morning :j
Lovely to see some "old" faces sneaking out of lurkdom last night and it seems a bit busier this morning so Ill run and get the bacon butties onMehefin Im sorry
my defence ma lud is the basis of the case which is that you don't post enough...did I get away with that?
Funny isn't it how we love reading about everyone else's day no matter how dull and then think our own are too boring. So next time your considering putting a wash on or vaccing through then strange though it may seem we want to know
Silver_oldie ...never boring I just wish you told us more but then I'm nosy as you know
I have had a couple of messages from Holly and she's OK although life is very tough for her at the moment I'm afraid as I am sure she will want to tell you when she gets back. She is being looked after by her lovely family though
So on the subject of boring posts ....here we go
Must have a clean through today as i have book club visitors tomorrow. Last nights tea was chips and curry sauce (and may have had a chip butty too) Today will be a salmon and cheese bagel and maybe chicken later. Simon at 9.30 so will loyally watch him cook things I don't have the ingredients in for but its fun anyway.
Jackiemum enjoy your day out at uni
lainey wish I could have some of your apples....chutney mmm
Gers your mums bedding is the same age as me
TA big hugs as always
Have a good day all :A0 -
Not a great nights sleep but could have been worse...Plans for today include picking up various items from FB marketplace - there's a leak from the exapansion tank in the loft and I can't get to it, so a ladder for that. I'm not spending 4 hours strimming the garden again, so a lawnmower too, and the porch has been emptied of wood, so tiles for that.
That should sort out all the imminent DIY jobs. And put me in bed for a day
Managed also to find someone with a quince tree on freecycle, so will be picking some of those next month, haven't been able to find any for a couple of years, the smell is just fab, will be picking more than needed for jelly just to have some lying around the house for smelling nice purposes. Also had a good chat via e-mail about them, and what to do with them, the owner of the tree has only just realised they've got one and doesn't know what to do with them.
Jackie O, what are baby balls?
Dumpling - result on the comic con
HardUP - SOunds alcoholically fab
Lainey - I love a free food opportunity, would have jumped at the chance of apples for free,Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Morning All
The weather has been really rough all night, I woke up at 5 with the wind wailing and rain battering the windows. Haven't managed to get back to sleep so been pottering around.
Gers - Your DM is truly amazing, so glad she could do her shopping. I too heard that radio programme, I do like Rick Wakeman. Did you hear last weeks? The gent who was thanking the WPC who helped him through tough times brought me to tears.
Pleased to hear Lee enjoyed himself dumpling, I can tell it's cheered you up too.
Belated anniversary wishes to you and your DH Rosy, hope you enjoyed your takeaway.
Thinking of you TA.
My posts are quite boring too but you're all too kind to say anything!
Yesterday's lunch was good, there was a vegan menu for DD, DS1 and I had fish and chips after a thai seafood broth. We had a little wander around the shops but didn't need anything so retreated to Dobbies for a coffee!
Not sure what to do today, may just sort the summer/winter clothing. Enjoy your day, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
I'm guilty of not posting much too, but I never have time other than at the weekend but I do have a quick read every night after work. Had a nice quiet day yesterday, getting jobs done and went down to my mam and dads for a couple of hours,
Today...well I'll have to get up soon to get ready and go down to sit with my dad while mam is at church. Then I'm planning on a quiet afternoon with my Sunday Times.
Sorry I seem to write the same thing every weekend!0 -
Wish I liked chutney more Nelski but we eat a jar a year if that so would be a waste of time & effort, you are more than welcome to my apples if you fancy a road trip, likewise anyone else0
-
Camelot - I've started to listen to the programme three times and have fallen asleep each time.
I found Susan Calman so interesting when she was talking about 'kindness' - we need more kindness in our lives, and thoughtfulness too. The other day I was in a queue at MS with one item in my hand, the person ahead of me let me go first, great thoughtfulness and kindness in one. If I ever shop in T esco I always offer my unwanted points to someone else.
Doesn't take much energy to be kind or thoughtful - and that's my thought for the day!:rotfl:
Sorry that you haven't got a permanent mooring Hester, is it a rota system or just luck that one comes your way?
I turned on the laptop to do emails - haven't got round it them yet!0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one TA's and Holly, sorry to hear that Holly is going through a bad time again, hope things look up for her again soon.
Just up. OH washed himself, I did his feet and legs and put cream on his back and arms. My back is protesting but it has to be done. He had painkillers when we went to bed but did not wake up during the night, so two more this morning. Today will be the last day he gets any. He has his denture in for the first time since the tooth came out.
Still nothing from the firm that are taking over OH's morning care, will have to wait and see what happens tomorrow morning.
We are having a little trip into town to see DD2 I want to hand over the parcel for GS's partner and also pass on some magazines I think DD2 will like.
Its a fine morning, sun keeps coming and going quite a strong wind. I am a bit concerned about a friend in the US who lives in North Carolina...she lives near Raleigh Durham. If her house is involved in flooding she will be devastated. Its such a pretty house and full of antiques.
I have half a leg of lamb marinading in the fridge for supper, need to sort out a dessert.0 -
Morning all,
Dull & grey again but not raining, we are off in an hour or so to go and watch DGD who is taking part in our local Hospice Bubble Rush ( its a fun run that involves a kind of water cannon shooting coloured bubbles as the runners set off,for those of you who haven't heard of it) She's done it before & it's a very positive atmosphere. The Hospice were fabulous looking after my DDad :A so I like to support them whenever I can.
The takeaway was really nice ,thank you Silver-Oldie and Camelot, made a nice change. Yesterday we went over to the farm where DH has lots (and lots!) of stuff stored,& also stuff from our various house moves  Anyway we went to fetch the box of LPs that havent been played since the 80s probably :rotfl:We got a cheap turntable this week.It does mp3s,&CDs and you can transfer the music to mp3 as well. Our godson ( our best friends son )is in a local band who are having a vinyl record produced and we'd have nothing to play it on,hence the purchase. As we were eating we had a musical journey back in time to our courtship and early married days in the mid 70s .Some have survived quite well but others ,what were we thinking :rotfl:Now DH is enthused about starting collecting vinyl records again, they're very 'in' now you knowAs if we don't have enough clutter !
Nelski, sorry to hear Holly is having a hard time, please send my best wishes xx
Hugs to the TAs,Poppy, the LWolves and anyone else in need of a hug or 2 xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Nelski, thank you fr letting us know about Holly, I had been thinking about her. I've also been wondering about Cranky as she's been gone a while. We're going away in the van tomorrow and sometimes don't have much of a signal so I might be missing for about 10days (don't all cheer at once).
Gers, I'd forgotten about penny-pincher. I had been trying to think about regular posters of years gone by and remembered Aussielass, thriftlady and taplady (who posted not long ago).
Dumpling, I'm so glad Lee enjoyed himself.
nmlc, losing weight is so frustrating isn't it, I wish it came off as easily as it went on. I put on quite a bit since we learned about Steve's problems (yes, I'm a comfort eater) but just over a week ago I decided I had to stop the rot somehow. I'm still not in a place where I feel able to think about low cal food so I resolved not to snack at all, just to eat 2 or 3 meals a day. It seems to be working at the moment, probably because I've not been reaching for the chocolate to self-medicate.
Steve went to his body-pump class at the gym for the first time in ages. He came back feeling better for it, although he'd reduced his weights as a precaution. He's now going over to Chris and Crystal's to mow their enormous lawn as Chris didn't manage to get it done before they left.
Ziggy goes home tonight, we'll be exchanging the hostage at South Mimms again.
I forgot to say, did anyone else watch Killing Eve last night. It makes a change to have a decent drama on a Saturday night. It's a bit gory for those of a sensitive disposition.0 -
Good morning from a rather dull, overcast & chilly East London
Thanks for starting us off Silver-oldie & like lots of others have mentioned no-one’s posts are boringNice to have RL friends but sometimes I think that ‘virtual’ friends are so much better - you have access to so many more people & can get advice, info etc from an eclectic group of people. RL friends usually have similar back histories to you whereas V friends have wide ranging experiences
So please keep posting & I am sending (((hugs))) galore
Dumpling, so pleased that Lee had such a good time & that it has brightened your day as well
Enjoy the dgc visit
We are just off out so will comment etc on other posts when we get back :rotfl: Off to have Dim Sum with our neighbours
See you later
