Driving Licence...carry or leave at home ?

Should I carry my driving licence with me or not ?
Any valid reasons for either case ?

Sticking to the letter of the law you're supposed to have it with you when driving however many people don't and the RTA allows an officer to issue a HORT1 form which gives you 7 days to produce it at a police station of your choosing.

I carry mine with me because I drive trucks for a living so stand a far higher chance of being stopped for a spot check but many if not most people don't and its not an issue.

As above if you carry it and get stopped, saves you having to go the police station.

Plus there are plenty of other everyday occasions where you might need a form of photo ID handy.

I haven't seen a 'hortie' used in years. I think that, in most cases, a PNC check reveals all instantly these days.

You do not need to carry it as Police can bring it all up on their in-car computers.
When I got stopped he had all the details up on screen before I got in the back of the car.
