I'm looking to boost Three's 4G data signal
Two bars of 4G can be achieved outside the house but not inside.
Are boosters/repeaters legal in the UK?
Where can they bought from and how do I know which one to buy?
Thanks in advance

3 do a device called Home Signal.
See here http://support.three.co.uk/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBISAPI.DLL?Command=New,Kb=Mobile,Ts=Mobile,T=Article,varset_cat=signal,varset_subcat=3804,Case=obj(12975)0 -
Home signal lets you use your phone over WiFi provided by your existing broadband.
What you really need is a MiFi or router that can take an external antenna.
Three offer two that will...

You can try one of the cheap Diamond 4G antennas off ebay for ~ £10 - they will fit the MiFi directly but would need an adapter for the HomeFi and I wouldn't swear to one being sold. A better answer would be a proper external 4G antenna with will cost ~ £60 which can be ordered with the appropriate connectors.
The MiFi might work if simply mounted in a window. The HomeFi might be the same or you could try internal rod type antennas with that. You should see if whatever you decide to buy will work without any antennas first then if you want to gamble on the cheap options try them first.
I have a HomeFi in my caravan using a proper external 4G antenna working off a mast about 2.5 miles away. The phone only just about works inside the van and 4G is very hit and miss but the HomeFi setup is rock solid.0 -

Thanks but that would involve a separate SIM and extra monthly cost. I can get 2 bars of 4G on my phone on an outside windowsill which is all I need but isn't exactly practical.
If I were to get a wireless router and antenna, what is the cheapest monthly Data-only SIM?0
