  • Happy New Year diary and I hope that anyone reading this has had a great time and is in full flow with for the year ahead?

This is the first time that I have been able to post properly since I started back at work.

First things first....Family.....DS is back to being his usual pain and is up to his money making schemes, that will back fire and despite warnings he was carrying on until it all came to ahead last night. I won't go in to too much detail on here but suffice to say that I am hoping it is now sorted.

My mum, I will talk to nearer the time when it comes to my Trek as she is thinking of coming down and bringing BF too. Once I have the details, I will ask her not to bring him with her. If we fall out because of it, then so be it. I can't placate her just for the sake of him any more.

It looks like DH had a lucky escape changing companies, there is lots of not very good stuff happening at the old place.

Now to the Financial side of things....

Capital One card has been used for some residual stuff from last year, it is manageable so I'm not worried about it.

Lloyds card I have managed to get that to a round figure. My aim for that one is to get it to £9K by May.

MBNA card....hmmm that one needs work, the deal runs out in September so it needs quashing as much as possible before then.

Pots wise - These are building up nicely, DD's travel for the year is done thanks to DH's spare holiday money from last company, Christmas money has been started and everything else is trickling along.

I have set myself a goal of paying of £4000 this year but I am aiming for more than that. We won't have any commission from DH now to help get rid of things, which is why it's a low amount this time.

On to the Personal stuff...I am doing dry January, not for charity but more because I want to. January is going to be tight as it is as HMRC messed up DH's new code which left us short at the end of December.

My diary infill for my Filofax is up and running and my list for various things have been done too, I am determined to make better use of it this year.

I am holiday tomorrow as DH has an appointment with the eye clinic at the hospital, it is worrying but until he's been we aren't going to know what they are going to do.

And lastly...the Other stuff...We have quite a bit in the freezer now and I am hoping to get back on top of it now it's back up and running again.

Meal plan has been done for January and I am hoping to keep this going.

I have signed up to my usual Savings challenges and I'm hoping to get more saved this year than last.

I am very tired today, I think it is a result of not drinking and the stress of worrying about DS and DH and Christmas and my mum in the background :o

I really need to get my tapestry done this year....I know I said that I was going to finish it last year, but I didn't and I keep looking at it and I need to do it this time.

So onwards and upwards or sideways but definitely NOT backwards this year.

Lovely list there, it does sound like things have been stressful though. I hope DH appointment goes well

  • Morning,

I slept a bit better last night so I don't feel as tired today.

DH's appointment was cancelled at 5pm last night, the consultant is sick apparently, so it will be rearranged and he will get a new appointment through in due course

    Not much else to report.

  • Sorry you're worried about DS and DH, and sorry that DH's appointment was cancelled.

It's awkward that your mum's partner is someone you don't feel comfortable with. What does he do that makes you feel like that?

He's very overbearing, always wants to be the Alpha male when he's here. It's like he's trying to be my dad but he'll never be. My mum has kind of 'adopted' his side of the family and grandkids which is fine by me but I find him too much and I can't ring her in case she puts him on the phone, I ring up to speak to her not him. Very awkward.
  • Morning (just!)

New week and a brand new day :)

Today has started off well, made our bed and put bleach down the toilet in the en-suite, I also cut up the potatoes for wedges for dinner tonight all before I left the house :)

I have brought my lunch with me today too.

This weekend was a spendy weekend, I needed new trainers and jeans....I've been putting them off for about 4 months (I know!) and gave in £63 spent, I feel guilty about spending it, even though I needed them. I always feel that DH and the kids need stuff before I do and I rarely spend on things I'm actually in dire need of.

Had a great walk on Sunday and covered just over 7km in just under 2 hours, I need to do more and up my speed as I need to get 10km done in 2 hours, I want the trek to be done in 5 hours in total, although they predict 5-7 hours to complete.

I'm doing dry January and had a wobble on Saturday and got drunk...whoops! but I didn't drink last night and the last day of January is DH's 50th so I will be drinking then.
