Corrr blimey - doubled the interest rate?

Well....with that infuriating scenario in mind I am sure you'll steam through the 8 months! Paying them off will be very satisfying I'm sure.
Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
    Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010
Credit cards: AMEX Airmiles Card: direct debit set to clear balance monthly
  • Here is a thought to add to the discussion - if your place is going to be unused could you find someone to long term house sit? It could be for a reduced rent but would mean your place would be occupied. I don't know how complicated this would be to do - I would imagine very complicated to do in an oficial way as well as difficult finding someone you trust alone in your house. However, if you had a friend that needed somewhere this could be a way of making a bit of extra money from your home whilst you are not using it. Just a thought. good luck

    Hi Clarab

Just wishing you the best - I'm relocating (I hope) just after New Year to somewhere 150 from home I know noone there - just the 3 that interviewed me so far, and I was only in their company for 1 hour - so I can sympathise.

Just think about paying Cahoot quicker than you expected and 8 months isn't that long. As you say there may be some nice men around too ;) .

I'm using mine to boost my career - was made redundant last year and have been in a lower paid job for 15 months, I'll be going back to my old wage when I move so my boss can't match it to keep me here. It's the first proper job I've been offered for a while, all the other interviews said no "new technology experience, no job, come back when you've got some experience of new technology to your CV".

I'm using my move (perm) as an adventure, I'm hoping they'll be some nice men where I work too, and a place to get mke new friends and get fit / new hobbies - I can't do my current hobbies there so will have to get new ones.

Good luck and it might not be as bad as you think.

    I don't mind - I just hope I don't insult anyone anyone :S

It would be just south of London. I'm a highland/fresh air type and have got athsmatic any time Ive ever worked in London or the south east before, making me totally miserable - I just cant cope with it too well!

Well at least you'd be closer to me! ;)

Looking up already ain't it? :p
  • Well Done on making what I think is the right decision, it isn't forever & will give you a much better debt free future.
My Husband works away to get rid of our debt, he started in January, I won't say it's easy, because it isn't, we have 2 children & no family support at all, he misses us all badly & I feel really dumped upon, because he's on a ship & has food heat etc provided & only has to think of himself, goes to hot countries & I've got all the worries & am stuck at home!!
But as bad as it is sometimes, we were really at rock bottom, nearly at the limit on our cards & o/draft, no way to make more money & adding more to our debt every month & I was really scared we may have to start missing payments.
As it is we've paid about £5000 off our debt since February & he's only doing it until July we're already 10 months in & it has gone quicker than I thought.
At least you're on land, sometimes we can only contact each other by email & his email goes down:mad:
    You're very brave :T
Comping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

Married my best friend 15/4/16 :)
  • Hi guys, sorry I hadn't updated this in a bit - its been a bit of a storm. Company hasdone yet another U turn and left me hanging.

On the upside now, Im going to be working from home, so theres got to be savings to be made!

I've taken stockof it and cansee the positives - My new plan(I alwayshave another new plan:rolleyes: ) is to doat least £300 of overtime a month for the pot - Istarted last night with a cool £50. Do that once a week (and more when anyone cancels theirs) and its probably a much less stressful kick up the debt pants that the original plan.

Oh and promotion WILL be mine, if it kills me.
  • If they change their mind again, you could rent your house out for 6 months - more loot.

    overtime is available but unreliable.

    Food - £120
    Contact lenses - £15
    Insurance (house) - £15
    transport - £50
Virgin Media - £25 (broadband and telly)
    Mobile - £20
Mum and Dad - £150 (unegotiable, £100 for them, and £50 they are putting away for me cause Ineed an emergency fund to fix that boiler!)

    Debts
    Cahoot 15.9% payment £161, owing £7800
    egg 7.66% payment £134, owing £5050

Im comfortable with that - but want to get the cahoot monkey off my back.
  • I think you need to consider how unhappy you might be as money isn't everything.

Saying that however, I'd also consider that it's a great opportunity to try out another city for a while. I moved south for a couple of years and it was such a great time. I moved and knew no one too so it was just about the job. I made some fantastic friends and believe me I find it hard to make friends.

What have you got to lose?
Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!
