Saving Up For Christmas

A lot of people will want to buy certain gifts for people soon, so to make sure it's affordable I thought we could start planning early!
There is a saving for Christmas challenge thread here:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5752840/saving-for-christmas-2018-1-a-day-challenge
It's never too early to start saving up!
What about using Black Friday deals for Christmas gifts?
It can be a good idea, as long as it's a proper deal. Read about how to spot a deal from a dud:
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/deals-hunter/2017/11/how-to-spot-the-duds-and-root-out-the-best-deals-this-black-friday/
Could it be better to join a Christmas saving club or collecting stamps?
Read more info here: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/christmas-savings-clubs/
Anyone got any Christmas gifts ideas yet? It's better to know sooner rather than later so you can look out for great deals!

Hi, we move threads if we think they’ll get more help elsewhere (please read the forum rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.
I’ve moved your thread from the ‘I wanna’ board to the ‘Special Occasions & Other Celebrations’ board, where it is better suited.
Regards

I absolutely love Christmas, countdown for me starts in September!
I have a few bits in already, really need to go through my present stash then write out a list of who I have to buy for then look out for the bargains.
I might go & write a list of who I need to buy for now actually!
Have you started planning or shopping yet?

I never used to start shopping for Christmas until after my birthday, 30th October. I made a small start last week
I used to try and save as much as I could when I was a single mum. These days I do the save a pound a day for Christmas challenge on the forums. I think this is the 3rd or 4th year it's been running, and it takes the pressure off, I'm so glad I do it trickling out of my current account into my savings account, £7 a week. I hardly notice it but definitely feel the benefit at the beginning of Decembernew challenge?£1 a day for Christmas 2024 £367 / £366 ~Got married 24/05/19 ~ Credit CardDFW Nerd #1155 ~LBM 25/2/09 ~ Debt at highest £8,037.35 ~ £00 -
Pretty much got all of my bits - apart form the money to go to some - get most of my stuff in Jan or through the year. Also written by cards and bought next years.0

I don't need to save up ... 3-4 days before Xmas I'll take £20 out of the bank, buy my food/drink/treats... then head home to shut the doors for 3-4 days.0

Hi,
too late to start saving now, you should've started in Jan, bought stuff then in the sales and stocked up.
Start saving now for next Christmas.0
